| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2019 | 49 Do you enjoy playing the billiard game of 8 Ball? If you do, come join us. All Sun Lakes residents are welcome to practice with us Mondays through Saturdays. We normally draw for partners at noon, then play to around 2 pm. There is no cost to join our group. However, if you elect to join a team, there is a $15 competition fee per three-month season. Eight teams compete every Thursday; four at 9 am and the other four at 1 pm in our Main Clubhouse Billiards Room. For a fun afternoon of friendly competition, come watch us play. For further information, please contact Barry Sorensen at (951) 402-4020 or email jobear15@sbcglobal.net. Wow, what a wet, cold Winter Tournament we've just come through! Hoping to move on to better times for the spring session. March 8 is looming closer as you read this. That is the cut-off date for submitting team entries for the Spring Tournament. If your team played the brief winter session, your dues have been paid for the year. All you need to do, assuming your team remains intact, is put the $12 team fee ($3 pp) in an envelope, indicate your choice of days, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, to play, giving us a SECOND choice if at all possible, and list your team members on the outside of the envelope. If your team didn't play the winter session and none of your members paid their club dues, each player owes $12 club dues, plus $3 team fee. To make things even more confusing, some members pay their annual dues, even though they don't plan to play until spring. If that's the case, those members need only pay the $3 team fee. Confused yet? You ought to be the one trying to keep track of who has and who hasn't! Here it is in a nutshell: club dues are paid once in a calendar year ($12). Team fees ($3 pp) are paid each tournament. Each calendar year we start all over again, meaning captains need to fill out a new entry card (bocce cabinet) and submit it with monies to 1288 Pleasant Valley. There is a box at the door. If, during that year, you have reason to change the personnel on your team, a new card must be filled out and submitted with monies due. By the way, the Spring Tournament begins play the week of March 18 and ends the week of May 20 with playoffs May 28 and 29 Play days are indicated above. Times move to 3, 4, 5, and 6 pm to, hopefully, avoid the heat of the day. Friends of Bocce
