BOCCE! This ancient and socially friendly game brings our Four Seasons residents together to meet and greet throughout the spring. Players from every neighborhood get to know each other, not only at our games but our famous potlucks and our season ending banquet. Return as seasoned players or join as newbies. There is a place for you. Sign-ups are Thurs., March 7 at 1 pm in the Lodge Ballroom. The $24 pp fee is due at this time. This must be in cash, no checks please! We welcome new players and we will help you form your four person team! Our first game is Thurs., March 21 at 9 am on the courts. The schedule will be emailed to all the players by Orville Ellingworth (our scorekeeper and scheduler) prior to that day. Our Welcome Back Potluck will be held at 5 pm on Thurs., March 28 in the BBQ area. Flyers will be available at the first game on March 21. There will be a Bocce Committee meeting on Fri., March 1 at 10 am in the Conference Room. We will discuss the 2019 season of play. We will try to have a Bocce Scramble of two person teams prior to the season start. There will be an email blast sent by the Lodge when the weather changes and the courts are dry enough to play on. I will also send an email to the teams who played in 2018. On that day just come to the Bocce courts at 9 am and we will find you a competing team. This will enable us to practice before the season begins in Marc, and will also be a time for new players to learn the game. Remember any resident of Four Seasons may sign out the Bocce equipment and play at any time. The Lodge attendant will be happy to assist you. If you are new to the game and would like some coaching, please contact me to set up a day and time. We celebrated the win of the team of Mike Garrett and Jim Gates. We also gave a round of applause to the team of Joyce Kerns and Donna Morrell who managed to win five games before losing to the winners. I want to thank all those who helped. Our BBQ chefs and the set up crew and all those who cleaned it up in record time! We will have a Shuffleboard scramble of two person teams, either two men or two women on each team. It will be held on Thurs., March 14, at 9 am. Just come with your two person team and we'll find you opponents, this will be a competition of men verses women. Might settle the disagreement of who are the better players, and then again it might NOT! There is a group who are practicing most Monday and Friday mornings. They start at approximately 9 am and play for one to two hours. Come out and join them, they are great teachers for anyone new to the game. This is a fun sport, easy to learn and easy on the joints! If that does not work for you, please call me and we can get together at a more convenient time for you. For info contact Sue Malarkey at (951) 223-3056, suem86301@gmail.com or csm86301@ aol.com.
