| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2019 | 19 How do the Sun Lakes libraries work? We always have new residents so let us review this great benefit of Sun Lakes life. There are four libraries. The beautiful main library/reading room in Main Clubhouse is for hard back books. Markers on the shelves indicate book type (for example, "Mystery"). Books are arranged alphabetically by author. Across the hall is the paperback library, again with books separated in sections. Large print books are also in this room and include hard back and paper back. A new section for large print is "New York Times Bestsellers." Be aware that Readers Digest large print condensed fiction is now on the bottom shelf under the other large print books. These have two novels per book, five books released per year – they are a good, quick reads. The Library Committee would like to again thank Garden Club for donating these subscriptions. There are westerns here, hard and soft cover. For grandparents, there is a section of children's books. South Clubhouse library is all paperbacks: romance on one side, mystery on the other. To the right of the Romance section are "Health and Wellness" with a variety of approaches such as diets, exercise, mindfulness. Readers Digest "Select Editions," which are condensed recent fiction, are on the bottom shelf. Please return South Clubhouse books to the return bin here. North Clubhouse has a large section for paperbacks but also has some specialty sections not found at the other libraries. There is a section for sports books. There are some classics here. Also biographies (please note: in this section only, books are arranged alphabetically by the subject's name) and non- fiction {by author). This is also where you will find a selection of jigsaw puzzles. The committee appreciates that if you borrow books here, you return them here. We use the Honor System. Borrow and return books at your leisure. I go to all four libraries when I am looking for a particular book. All large print readers at Sun Lakes: PLEASE return any New York Times bestsellers that you have borrowed. Other residents want to read these newer books! Thanks to all our donors and volunteers. It is nice speaking with fellow residents who enjoy reading so much! Library Advisory Safety & Security Advisory Bingo Advisory The Bingo Advisory Committee wishes each of you a Happy Easter! This month Bingo will be held on April 9, 16, 23, and 30. Our doors open at 4:30 pm and the first game begins promptly at 6 pm. You can bring food from home or purchase food to-go from our restaurant. Drinks from our bar are also allowed. It is always a fun and an inexpensive and fun evening out. We give away lots of money. Come win some! Don't miss out. If you have a considerable amount of time to give and are interesting in running Bingo, fill out a volunteer interest form that can be found at the front reception desk. Our committee is so pleased to see so many new Sun Lakers coming to Bingo! We welcome you. Have questions? Call Anne at (951) 845-8700. Every month, the Safety & Security Advisory Committee holds hearings for residents who have received parking citations – a minimum of three within 90 days, sometimes more than three. Most are blatant offenses; some are carelessness. Please make sure your guests and caregivers get passes and double check the dates they are valid. It is the resident's responsibility to make sure the passes are visible on the dash so security can see them. A pass that is upside down making the date not visible (even if it's a correct pass) will still get a ticket. This also applies if you need to temporarily park your car outside your garage. If you receive a hearing letter, it is your opportunity to explain the circumstances. If you don't appear, the committee may act in your absence. Questions or clarification? See the Planning & Compliance staff. Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of the month in the Administration Conference Room at 1:30 pm. Residents may attend the business portion of the meeting, but will be excused from the hearings. Questions may be addressed to Jean Dobson, Chair, at (951) 922-6755.
