28 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2019 | Emmy-nominated actress Angela Ingersoll is coming to the Main Clubhouse Ballroom for the Friendship Club's next show on April 14 with her concert Get Happy: Angela Ingersoll Sings Judy Garland, which was shown on PBS and earned her an Emmy Award nomination for her outstanding performance. According to Splash Magazine, she is "the heiress apparent to the Garland legacy." She is also known for her stunning portrayal of Judy Garland in the play End of the Rainbow. She has earned Chicago's Jeff Award, a Broadway World Award, a St. Louis Theater Circle Award nomination, and Los Angeles Times Woman of the Year in Theatre. Attracting the attention of Garland's family, Ingersoll partnered with Garland's son onstage for "Joey Luft and Angela Ingersoll Celebrate Judy Garland." Other theater credits include How To Succeed in Business, Much Ado About Nothing, Shakespeare's Greatest Hits, The Great Gatsby, The 39 Steps, Carousel, South Pacific, The Secret Garden, Beauty and the Beast, Jekyll and Hyde, Man of La Mancha, Ragtime, Of Mice and Men, The Philadelphia Story, and The Wizard of Oz. Tickets for the show are $20 for members, $25 for non-resident guests. Doors open at 6 pm, show begins at 7 pm. Make checks out to Friendship Club, and deliver them to 5168 Rio Bravo Drive. The Friendship Club Happy Cookers Spooners: New members welcomed to the Happy Cookers and presented with "official" HC spoons. Two well-attended Happy Cookers meetings were held in February and March. The owners of the Two Ladd's Bakery, Cherry Valley, demonstrated the skills to make stuffed grape leaves, providing samples of grape leaves and their delicious bakery pastries. The March "Kentucky Derby" had an amazing amount of member participation, which included different place settings at each table, decorated "Derby" bonnets, and fabulous "Kentucky" food samples. Now we are eagerly waiting for the April 26 "Eggstravaganza" at the South Clubhouse, 11 am. All types of dishes will be served with one thing in common. You guessed it… eggs. Plan on joining in creating your own holiday egg, either to welcome spring or any holiday you may choose. The May 24 "Getting to Know You Mixer" will offer a time for Happy Cookers to socialize while sampling homemade appetizers. Be sure to save both of these dates. Happy Cookers has a wonderful reputation as a club that offers cooking tips, sharing recipes, tasting treats, and opportunities to meet new friends.
