8 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2019 | The EPAP Patrol Unit is organized to provide security for our community and assistance to various elements of the emergency organization. The unit has been trained to work the six entry gates and the gate to the RV lot, set up and start generators in the Bus Room, and search throughout the community for downed wires, and damaged property. The Patrol Unit is currently comprised of Ken Hurley (lead), Don and Marilyn Forhane, Bill Rayner, Michael Rhine, Jack Barrett, Michael Owen, Neal Berry, Curt Kiel, T.J. Moody, Alan Lott, Richard Bly, and Jim Lugenbeel. Unit members have each prepared a special Patrol "Go Bag" to use in an emergency. It includes a member's hard hat, jacket, gloves, and tools. One unit member is assigned to the EOC in a drill or real emergency. He or she will use the unit's specific radio frequency to forward information to and from the Incident Commander. Volunteers with public safety (police, fire, etc.) experience are particularly welcome to join, but other volunteers will certainly be accepted. Registration of hand-delivered ballots starts at 8:30 am. There are two open positions on the Board of Directors.
