As the Winter months, which brought us much needed rain, move into our rear view mirror, Springtime has definitely appeared in our windshield. We all had many reasons for our decisions to move to this valley. But quite likely, times such as these influenced our decision because of the natural beauty that surrounds us. The clean air and blue skies accented by billowy white clouds provide a stark contrast to the boulder strewn hills awash with lush new growth. All this, set against the backdrop of snowcapped mountains can be breathtaking. As we take in the beauty of this valley, it is refreshing to revel in the many ways nature transforms our landscape with promises of growth and new life. Similarly, April also provides us an opportunity to participate in the transformation of our Four Seasons community. Each of us has a responsibility to actively engage in the governance of our community. April 24th is when we will hold our 2019 Annual Membership Meeting, and along with that comes the election of our Board of Directors. By now you should have received, or will soon receive, your notice of this meeting, and your ballot. Hopefully you have already made your selections and returned your completed ballots to the Lodge. If you have not, please do so at your earliest convenience. As explained in our General Manager's message, we need a ballot return of 50% + 1 to ensure that our election is completed. If we do not achieve this quorum, we must adjourn the meeting and start all over again, all at an additional, unnecessary cost to the Association. So, it is essential that we all participate in this process to guarantee that we achieve a quorum of ballots. This year, we will be electing three Directors. As of the March 11th deadline to submit candidacy applications, we know one of the three incumbents has decided not to run for re-election. This means that, at the very least, there will be one new person elected to the Board of Directors. Since eight candidates applied, a "meet the candidates" event will be scheduled in the Lodge ballroom. This will provide an excellent opportunity for you to see, meet and listen to individuals who have demonstrated their willingness to assume a critical leadership role on behalf of our Association. Watch for more information on this event — we urge you to attend and be informed. As our good friend and former Board President Hal Townend often reminded us, our Four Seasons community is a work in progress, and few things will always remain the same. Most certainly, change is inevitable (except perhaps from a vending machine). As such, we should embrace it, and ensure that what we seek is for the greater good and not merely change for the sake of change. Concerted effort has been put forth over the years by many good folks…your friends and neighbors. They have voluntarily endeavored to make our Four Seasons community the best it can be, and a place we are proud to call our home. Let's all commit to building on that wonderful foundation and continue this valuable tradition! Spring forward! Message from the Board of Directors 2 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | April 2019 | Sincerely, and on behalf of your Board of Directors, Jim Hatcher, Ken Pounders, Tony Criscenti, Gene Hikel, Jim Crase and Greg Rockvam, Russ Brown President
