By Steve Benoff Coming up with a new idea for a monthly apps column isn't always easy. Mostly an idea springs up while I'm just using an app on my phone or searching for an app I need. This month, however, I'm out of ideas; so I'm going to steal from Beebom at beebom.com. They published (remember when "publish" meant putting ink on paper?) a list of "Really Weird Apps." I've chosen a few for your enjoyment. If you don't enjoy them, complain to Beebom, not me. However, if you do enjoy them, please give me all the credit. iShaver Pro How about using your phone as an electric shaver. With this app you can use your phone as a shaver complete with vibration and falling hair. You can choose small or big hair and select from four colors: black, brown, white, and grey. The only thing it doesn't do is actually remove hair from your body. Milk the Cow Pull down on an udder and fill the pail with milk. You can choose your cow: classic, XXXL, furry, and cowborg. You can even make a game out of it. This way you can milk your cow without having to wake up at 4 am and trudge to the barn. And your boots will never get wet. Binky - Have you wondered what it's like to use social media? I see people using Facebook and Snapchat and wonder what they're doing. With Binky, you get an endless stream of random stuff to scroll through. You can like and comment on the items that appeal to you. You can rebink posts just like retweeting. Best of all, there is no social in this social media app. Your comments and likes go nowhere. No server is keeping track of your preferences. This app is strictly for your own amusement. RunPee This is the go-to app for moviegoers with weak bladders. We've all been watching a movie in a theater and had to pee. But the fear is that we'll miss an important scene. Not with RunPee. It has a database of current movies. You select a movie. Then you start the timer when the movie starts. Your phone will vibrate at the beginning of a not-so-important scene. Yo This is an app apparently inspired by the HBO series Silicon Valley. It's a messaging app with one slight limitation. Its only message is "Yo." Using your contacts on your phone, you can send "Yo" with the press of a button. Just don't expect anything else. Cat Piano This app gives you a one-octave keyboard. Each key produces a cat's meow. Try Twinkle,Twinkle Little Star as I did. It's cute and silly at the same time. You can even choose among four different cat piano types – normal, kitten, old, and angry. Fat Booth Want to see what you'd look like with a few extra pounds on your face. Take a selfie and see how you look. It doesn't have to be a selfie. You can blow up any face photo. Warning. The Beebom article was written in late 2017 so some of these apps may no longer be available. Of course, you can always search for more silly apps on your computer. As always, it costs you nothing to download and try these apps out. Keep the one(s) you like and delete the rest. Do you use an app you'd like to share with others?
