24 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2019 Now that we have changed our clocks, it will be darker in the morning. Please continue to wear reflective clothing while enjoying morning walks so you are visible to drivers while you cross the streets in Four Seasons. Use crosswalks when they are available, be vigilant for wildlife if you are walking your dogs, and walk on the sidewalks. Be careful when walking on trails and report any breakdown of the trails to the FirstService Management representatives so repairs can be scheduled. Also, if you become aware of a safety issue that needs to be addressed, such as a light out on the street lamps, cracks that are possibly trip hazards on sidewalk areas, or other issues, please report them to the Safety Committee and our management company so corrections can be made as quickly as possible. We meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 10 am in the RCN conference room. Residents are welcome to attend the meetings, and if you have an interest in becoming a member of the Safety Committee, please let us know. Our next meeting will be April 2 at 10 am. Many of our residents have observed the Beaumont Police Department patrolling our area. Traffic citations have been issued for speed and stop sign violations in some cases to our residents, and also non-resident employees of construction companies. Please slow down and stop at the stop signs and yield the right- of-way to vehicles in the roundabouts when you are approaching. I know the Safety Committee has covered these issues many times in our meetings, Board of Directors meetings, in articles in the Breeze and the Daily Report, but these issues have garnered the most complaints from our residents. Remember, when approaching our roundabouts, yield to the vehicle already in the roundabout. We have had several close calls recently where vehicles already in the roundabout were almost struck by vehicles entering without yielding the right- of-way. One incident involved a driver of a vehicle violating the right-of-way and entering the roundabout faster than the posted speed limit who reacted when the other driver used their horn. The driver entering the roundabout shouted angrily in a threatening tone at the other driver. Fortunately the driver already in the roundabout did not engage the angry driver entering the roundabout and the incident ended. We are all here to enjoy our active adult lifestyle and retirement, so please slow down, be patient, and yield the right-of-way where it is posted to do so. We are all neighbors, and it is important that we respect each other's safety. We are an active adult community so be careful when traveling through Four Seasons whether by car, bicycle, golf cart, motorcycle or walking. Let's keep Four Seasons the wonderful community that we chose to enjoy time off work and our retirement years in. Thank you to all of you who have taken the time to report safety issues; your efforts are appreciated. ~ Jerry Monahan, (951) 212- 8898 Safety Committee
