48 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2019 Mixed Media Arts Class This is the perspective of the artist of the month, Joanne Parham: Since coming to the Four Seasons in Beaumont from Palm Springs, I've been surprised to find a community full of amenities and activities, with friendly people from all walks of life. I have spent my working years in the medical field, working as a Registered Physical Therapist at Orthopedic Hospital in LA. Afterward I went back to school to complete a Standard Teaching credential, with an emphasis in early childhood and Special Needs education. One of the first activities that took my interest, was Rob Kelman's class of "Mixed Media Art." Of all the classes I've taken in my life, the closest I came to an art class was a class in art history. With zero experience I joined his class in August, 2018 and found myself surrounded by extremely talented people. I plodded along as a genuine novice, attempting to complete Rob's three mandatory assignments, an elephant, a landscape, and a building. Slowly, I learned to draw something realistic. Yearning for guidance, Rob was there with his wisdom. He taught me to observe and capture on paper exactly what I saw in the picture. This has given me inner fulfillment, relaxation, and a desire to continue. I love learning and every time Rob opens his mouth, I learn something new. Classes are Mondays, 10 am to 12 noon, and/or Wednesdays, 6 to 8 pm. If you have any questions, call Rob Kelman at (951) 992-9156. ~ Rob Kelman Work by Artist of the Month Joanne Parham Our March gathering of the Four Seasons car, truck, and motorcycle enthusiasts was canceled due to rain. What a bummer. We are hoping that Mother Nature decides to calm the skies for our next gathering on April 6 (weather permitting) at 9 am at The Lodge parking lot. Join us every first Saturday of the month. Spectators are more than welcome. For additional information, please contact Rick at (951) 255-4710 or Frank at (951) 203-4578. ~ Frank Morales The Four Seasons Amateur Radio Club currently has 20- plus members. We are actively involved in the Emergency Preparedness Program and operate the club's equipment in our own radio room at the RCN. Our communicators fall into two groups: licensed hams, and Family Radio Service operators who use unlicensed hand held radios that are capable of covering the entire community. We'll teach you everything you need to know. We meet on the last Friday of every month at 10 am in the RCN Conference Room and we'd love to see you at the next meeting. ~ Jim Peterson, jimsally@hotmail.com, (858) 442-1230 CARS & COFFEE RADIO CLUB Intrepid members brave the weather in February to enjoy Cars & Coffee Mike Mendoza at the Club Fair in January
