FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | APRIL 2019 61 Bridge 4 Fun Three-Thirteen Bridge For Fun Four Season's newest bridge group plays Mondays, 12 noon in the Game Room next to the Library at The Lodge. Come play, watch, learn and sharpen your skills. For more information, call Sandie Urie (951) 769-8307 or Mike Saperstein (951) 769-7909. ~ Sandie Urie It's great that spring is finally here after all the rain we had this winter! With the arrival of a new season, why not think about starting a new activity here at Four Seasons? If you have ever wanted to play bridge, now is a great time to start. We now have two bridge groups, one on Monday at noon and one on Wednesday at noon, both in the Game Room. For contact information on Monday's group, see the Bridge 4 Fun article, and if interested in Wednesday's group, contact Verina Rector at (951) 769-1687. We not only have a great time playing bridge together, we have several potlucks during the year. Our most recent one was March 9 hosted by Dennis and Sandy Gunnerson. Once again another successful time with pizza, beer and wine, paid for by the group, and all brought delicious side dishes. Great food and great company along with some fun and silly games. Thank you, Dennis and Sandy! ~ Tom Halley Hey everyone! We are still going strong and are becoming "a fixture" in the RCN Building on Monday evenings. We offer a satisfying game environment filled with good cheer and good natured 'trash talking' as well as snacks, beverages and some great music. And, win or lose, you will have a lot of fun and meet some great folks while playing bid whist. The current record is still three Bostons in one night – the challenge is still there to make four or more Bostons in one night! New players, whether new to the game or veterans, are always welcome. So, as we fondly say "although it be harrrrd, don't be scarrrrrred" (big smile!). Come out sometime and join us to learn bid whist and/ or 'to get your bid game on.' We meet every Monday (except major holidays) from 6 to 8:30 pm in the RCN Building, Activity Room 3. For more information, contact Roxanne Williams at (951) 797-3123 or Floyd Reid at (951) 317-3127. ~Roxanne Williams Co-ed Bid Whist Dominoes The battle for the domino championship for the month of February was an all out war. Everyone played great, but five players played exceptionally well, holding and blocking plays to the end. They were competing at a fierce pace; one might think there was a million dollar prize being awarded instead of just a lot of fun. For the first time in the history of the Domino Group we did not have a domino champion. Instead we had five champions who all finished with 17 game wins each. This was simply an amazing event and will probably not happen again. Congratulations to Jesse Dimmer, Solomon Hayes, Robert Turner, John Bragg and Dean Delany for some outstanding domino playing. Dominoes are played every Wednesday and Friday from 5 to 9 pm in The Lodge Game Room. Practice is from 5 to 6 pm on both days. Come out, join us have some fun and make some new friends. Jesse Dimmer is usually available to give you help and tips on the game of dominoes if needed. For more information, call Jesse at (951) 769-2035, or Reggie at (951) 769- 6483. ~ Marvin Gaines (L-R) Front row: Robert Turner and John Bragg Back row: Jesse Dimmer, Solomon Hayes, Dean Deloney Our first Three-Thirteen session was a blast! Everyone had a great time, and between bouts of laughter we could hear an occasional "no way" as someone went out early, leaving other players at the table holding lots of points. Winners for March were Lorie Reitz who took first place with only 37 points, Jerry Monahan came in second with a score of 45, and Brenda Brazeal placed third with a total of 63. Great job, everyone. Three-Thirteen is a fun and fast-paced card game, played in 11 rounds. A variation of rummy, players meld, using runs and sets. The first player to go out receives no points. Then players have an opportunity to either play on the cards laid down and/or play their own. Each round uses a progressive, new wild card. The object of the game is to have the fewest points. Not a lot of rules to remember, and it's quick and easy to learn. We play the first Tuesday of the month from 3 to 5 pm in the Game Room. If you're interested, please sign up on the interest sheet at The Lodge, or contact Mike Corbett at micedcor1@gmail.com for additional information. ~ Kris Corbett
