The YC Board is pleased to welcome you to our meeting April 15 for a wonderful musical performance by our very own resident and member, Jessica Schwartz. Here's a little of Jessica's background: She sings folk, pop, standards, world music, Broadway tunes and more, and has performed as a vocal soloist internationally! She was a cantorial soloist in the Boston area for many years. Group highlights include singing at Fenway Park, performing with John Williams on July 4th in Boston and touring in Israel as part of the National Jewish Chorale. Her upcoming album, which includes African and Middle Eastern percussion and other instruments, features ancient and modern Jewish melodies sung in several languages from the Diaspora. As part of her private work, Jessica facilitates workshops in Sound & Healing. For 30 years, Jessica has studied (and sometimes taught) Kabbalah with an Orthodox rabbi (who's now in Tzfat). He passed on to her traditional niggunim (wordless melodies) and his translated authentic Jewish meditations with sound. Jessica's five meditation albums with music are on iTunes, Amazon and CDBaby. In addition, for the visually impaired, she recorded several spoken children's books that are in the Library of Congress. Jessica's performance at the April 15 meeting will provide a taste of the Jewish experience in song and story: old and new Jewish melodies, both uplifting and profound, from different traditions. Recently, Jessica brought a CD of her singing to our house and played it. I didn't know what to expect and wasn't quite prepared for the full, rich, wonderful chest- filling sound she creates with her beautiful voice. You will want to experience her performance, so mark your calendar: April 15 at 7 pm! We must have RSVPs to provide dessert and set up tables, so please (by Thurs., April 11 at 5pm) respond to Lainy at LFV2@sbcglobal.net or by phone at(760) 726 1865. We are requesting that this event be members only. (But, honestly, if you have family or friends visiting, they will be welcome, too.) Please mention their name/s when you RSVP on their behalf. Til then.… gey gezunterheyt!
