18 | OHCC LIVING | APRIL 2019 | Photography The next Photography Club meeting will be held in the Ladies Clubroom on Thurs., April 18 at 1 pm. There will be a slideshow of images of flowers and gardens shot by members during our March field trip to Grand Tradition Estate & Garden in Fallbrook. Those members who participated in this event have been invited to submit their five best images to be screened at the meeting. If there is enough time, members who were not able to attend the field trip will also have the chance to show photos of flowers taken elsewhere. Village Vets Colonel Jeff Holt is the Deputy Commander, Marine Corps Installations West-Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton. He will be our speaker for the April 25 meeting in the Mykonos Room at 2:30 pm. He hails from Dallas, Texas where he graduated from Lake Highlands High School in 1988. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Arkansas where he majored in Finance (1992). He earned a Master's Degree in Science from Kansas State University (2004) in Adult and Continuing Education and a Masters of Military Science in National Resource Strategy from National Defense University (2012). His military education includes U.S. Marine Corps Basic School and Infantry Officer Course (1992), U.S. Army Advanced Artillery School (1999), U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (2003), and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (2012). Colonel Holt's command tours include: Rifle Platoon Commander with Company L, 3d Battalion, 7th Marines (1993-1994) and TOW Platoon Commander, 4th and 7th Marines (1994-1996) in 29 Palms, CA; Company Commander, Companies G and Weapons, 2d Battalion, 2d Marines (2001-2003) in Camp Lejeune, NC; Battalion Commander, 3d Battalion, 3d Marines (2009-2010) in Kaneohe Bay, HI; and Regimental Commander, School of Infantry-West (2016-2018) in Camp Pendleton, CA. His principal staff assignments include; Series Officer, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, CA (1996-1999); Assistant Operations Officer, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Camp Lejeune, NC, (1999-2001); Expeditionary Planner, U.S. Navy Sixth Fleet, Naples, Italy (2004-2006); Executive Officer, 1st Battalion, 3d Marines, Kaneohe Bay, HI (2006-2007), Operations Officer, 3d Marines (2007-2009); Operations Officer, Joint Staff J-39 (2012- 2014); Deputy Commander of Futures Directorate and Director Experimentation, Marine Corps Warfighting Lab aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico, VA (2014-2016). Colonel Holt's personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal with two gold stars, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with one gold star, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with one gold star, and the Combat Action Ribbon. TAG members offer computer, tablet, and smartphone assistance to all OHCC residents. General Help Sessions, Topic-Specific Help Sessions, How-To Workshops, and classes are scheduled throughout the month.
