| OHCC LIVING | APRIL 2019 | 19 Art Room News HELP WANTED: One tall, strong, and patient helper to assist with art installations for approximately two hours on a Saturday every three to four months. Our next installation will be on Sat., April 6 at 9:30 am. We want to extend a hearty thank you to the Chinese brush-painting artists who created the beautiful works featured in our recent exhibit: Emma Chung, Anne Sage, Janice Pelcher, and Ingrid Nelson, Peggy Newburg, Nancy Louis, Bob Wong, and Jill Keating. Many of the artists would love to sell some of their artwork. They are so creative and have more than they can display. If you are interested, please contact them directly. If you haven't seen the current exhibit, do come before it's changed out, then come see the new paintings after April 6, and be sure to read a little about each artist in the info pocket on the slat board. If you would like to show your artistry in a future exhibit, please contact Judy Harris or Lainy Vinikow. Stained Glass The two month beginner's class is coming along nicely. Everyone is learning a lot and having fun. Our new beginner's class, was fully booked, that started in March. Another beginner's class will start on Thurs., July 11. Art Lovers The Art Lovers Club hopes that you can join us, Thurs., April 18 for our car trip to the acclaimed Lux Art Institute in Encinitas, 1550 S. El Camino Real. We will have a guided tour and watch artist, Minoru Ohira while he creates his beautiful sculptures. Lux Art Institute is redefining the museum experience with the region's only artist- in-residence program that invites artists to live and work on site while producing a commissioned work of art. Lux is committed to making art more accessible. At Lux, visitors do not just see finished works of art; they see the artistic process firsthand by observing internationally recognized artists in a working studio environment. Lux Art Institute is pleased to present the exhibition of Japanese artist, Minoru Ohira who repurposes found materials and construction waste to create large sculptures. Using the influences of his Japanese upbringing, Ohira combines Japanese culture with abstraction in his delicately balanced work. Ohira lives and works in Los Angeles and has exhibited his works in galleries and museums all over the world. Itinerary: 12 pm: Meet at Overflow Lot 12:15 pm: Depart for Lux Art Institute 1 - 2:30 pm: Guided tour of the Artist & Education Pavilions 2:35 pm: Isabelle Briens French Pastry Cafe for an afternoon treat, 127 N. El Camino Real It is suggested that members have lunch before departing for the Lux. There is a $5 admission fee for the Lux.
