| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | May 2019 | 23 Featured Artist: Howard Feigenbaum Featured Artist: Becki Kenney Howard Feigenbaum is an author, photographer, and artist. "In painting, the Impressionists have been my greatest influence. They constructed a mode of art where placement of color creates a heavy suggestion of the image. The viewer's mind participates in the completion. I love that. "Photography allows the eye to find something extraordinary in the ordinary world. That kind of discovery is a delight. "Four Seasons art classes have allowed me to develop my creativity. I am grateful to Barbara Kenyon and Lois Stipp for sharing their expertise. "As Louis Armstrong summed up life, I see trees of green; Red roses too; I see them bloom; For me and you; And I think to myself; What a wonderful world." I started making jewelry when I lived on a private yacht in St. Thomas. I guess a little history is necessary… I was an interior designer for many years. One day I got a letter in the mail saying I won an "all expense paid - one week cruise for two on a private yacht in the Virgin Islands, including airfare, food and a crew." I wasn't sure it was for real so I checked it out and it was true. I packed my bags and had a great time! Shortly after getting back from St. Thomas, the Ethan Allen furniture gallery I worked for so many years closed. I took the opportunity to make a drastic change. I sold my house, furniture, cars and gave my dog to my brother's kids (they loved "Gary"), and moved to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. I lived and worked on private yachts for five years and saw many islands and fun ports. In my free time I gathered sea shells, beads and interesting items to make my creations. When we docked, I would go to the local "watering hole" with my handmade jewelry and sell them. Five years later I returned to California and other things took my interest… my new husband Les, real estate and golf! But last summer I located my tools and treasures I had packed away for many years. I bought new supplies and began creating again! I participated in The Fall Marketplace selling my handmade necklace and earring sets. Even with the rainy day I was inspired to create more! You are welcome to come see my showroom and studio.
