34 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | May 2019 | Congratulations to Monica Scholl for the first Bocce of the season at the game on March 28. The Bocces are increasing with Carol Webber scoring one on April 4. We have 14 teams this season and are playing a round at 9 am and at 10 am each Thursday. If we are rained out, the season will be extended and that missed game will be made up. We were rained out for our first game on March 21, so that game will be held May 9. Finals will be held May 30, beginning at 9 am. Our Awards Banquet in the Ballroom is scheduled for June 27, at 5 pm. The cost for guests is yet to be determined. Any resident of Four Seasons may act as a sub for a team who has a need. We never know when someone has an appointment they can't change or they catch the current bug that might be floating around. Come on down and be our cheering section! There will be a Bocce Committee meeting on Fri., May 3, at 10 am in the Conference Room. We will discuss the 2019 season of play and the banquet plans. Remember any resident of Four Seasons may sign out the Bocce equipment and play at any time. The Lodge attendant will be happy to assist you. They will take you to the SPA building where the older equipment is stored and give it to you for your use. You would then return the bag to the door of the storage area and let the attendant know that you are finished. They will put it back at their leisure. If you are new to the game and would like some coaching, please contact me to set up a day and time. For info contact Sue Malarkey, (951) 223-3056, suem86301@ gmail.com or csm86301@aol.com. Our regular 2019 season of Four Seasons Shuffleboard will begin in September, with sign-ups in late August. Dates will be announced later this year. We had a Shuffleboard scramble of two person teams, either two men or two women on each team. It was held on March 14. This was a competition of men versus women. I had thought it might settle the disagreement of who are the better players. The four, two man teams each won their game. One women's team won their game. Even though more men teams won than women, we are not ready to acknowledge that men are the better players. We will most likely plan a rematch in the future! There is a group who are practicing most Monday and Friday mornings. They start at approximately 9 am and play for about one to two hours. Come out and join them, they are great teachers for anyone new to the game. This is a fun sport, easy to learn and easy on the joints! If that does not work for you, please call me and we can get together at a more convenient time for you. Any resident can check out the equipment to practice. The Lodge attendant will take you to the courts and unlock the cabinet. You will receive the number of cues needed for the number of people playing, the set of yellow and black discs, one shaker of premixed beads to spread on the court and the broom to sweep the court before and after you play. Please do not walk on the diamond finished courts, they can be slippery even before you spread the beads. The Lodge attendant will then re-LOCK the cabinet. When you are finished playing, just leave all the above items in front of the cabinet and let the attendant know, as you leave the Lodge, that you are finished and they can return the equipment used to the cabinet at their leisure. For info contact Sue Malarkey, (951) 223-3056, suem86301@ gmail.com or csm86301@aol.com. Shuffleboard Bocce Welcome back potluck Waiting to score the points
