We're halfway through the Spring Tournament with 85 teams
participating! The new side boards work well, although the carpeted
surface leaves something to be desired. Not much to be done about
that, however. Everyone is dealing with the same situation. With all
the rain we've had, it is nice that the courts don't fill with water! Some
of us remember when a club member floated a toy cruise ship on
what was then Court 1 and took a picture of it. It looked like the real
thing.
The Pizza Party was a big success, as usual, with roughly 290 club
members and a few guests attending. Some of you wondered about
the $3 we charged for a 'free' pizza party. It's 'good faith' money, telling
us how many members plan to attend the party. Strangely enough,
the kitchen at the Main Clubhouse wanted to know how many
people it was going to have to feed that night! The money was then
contributed to Sun Lakes Charity Week.
The Spring Tournament ends the week of May 20, with play-offs
the following Tuesday and Wednesday, May 28 and 29. May 27 is
Memorial Day. Sign-ups for the Summer Tournament have to be in
by May 31, with play beginning the week of June 10. We play Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday in the Summer, 5, 6, 7 and 8 pm, to avoid the
heat of the day. For those who don't know, entries go to 1288 Pleasant
