Travel Club Left: The Lions, Tigers & Bears Sanctuary near Alpine: May 30 Below: Barrio Logan & more in San Diego: June 25 Yiddish Club Chai, Yiddish Clubbers! I am certain that we all enjoyed Jessica Schwartz's singing at our April meeting. Who knew we had such talent in our community? Thank you Jessica! Beautiful and moving performance. Your YC will be quiet in May as we continue to put together plans for our June 23 luncheon. We're going to have a different approach, a worthy purpose for our luncheon. This year instead of continuing to "import" Katella Deli's food, with their high delivery fee, we're going to use local suppliers and our own hard workers to put together a "Picnic for Passion and Patriotism!" We promise delicious meats, your own container of chopped liver, potato salad, coleslaw, rye bread, rugulah, sodas, coffee and condiments, along with that terrific team, "WendyandRik," doing their song and comedy shtick in the style of Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme. Prices will be super-reasonable and, yet, we hope and plan to make donations from the proceeds of the family-style picnic to the National Yiddish Book Center in our support for the passion of preserving Yiddish, and to our own Woodchucks for their commitment to Patriotism in support of the Camp Pendleton families. Because of fixed expenses (servers and entertainment) we must have a good- sized crowd in order to make these important donations. So please invite friends and family to come! Member price is $20; guest price is $25; children age 13 and under $15. Sotchadeal! Please mark this very special Picnic for Passion and Patriotism on your calendar for June 23 at 11:30 am. Request for reservations will be emailed and in the next OHCC Living magazine. Til then, gey gezunterheyt! Lainy
