| OHCC LIVING | MAY 2019 | 33 Have you ever burned your fingers on a bowl from the microwave that was too hot? Well… Kathy Moskovitz shared a solution to us. She headed up a workshop to create microwave safe bowl holders. We each used our own fabric choice, and then filled them with a special batting that is safe for use in the microwave. (Some batting materials contain small amounts of metal and can be dangerous in the microwave. Did you know that? I did not.) I was able to use a cute fabric that matches my other kitchen colors and voila! It is interesting the things I have learned with this club. Later in April, we had a Christmas stocking blowout party. We used our club machines, some of the members brought their own machines, and we sewed a… What would that be? Let us see… It is a gaggle of geese, a murder of ravens… a stash of stockings. Anyway, our Camp Pendleton families will be happy to receive these gifts to warm their hearts and their homes this Christmas. Our regular schedule: You will hear cordial conversation in the Sewing Room on Tuesday evenings and Friday afternoons as we all work on our own projects. Thursday mornings may be open sewing time or special projects. Our beaders are on hiatus due to their travel itineraries, however Tuesday afternoons, will be busy with MaryLu Belisle and the knitters. On the second Saturday, we have a 'Sew-In', and on the fourth Saturday, the Wearable Arts group will be up to something fun with Pam Bechill. A complete list of happenings is on the Bulletin Board in the Sewing Room. If anyone would like to participate in our activities and is unable to get to the Clubhouse, please contact Chris Sanderson at (858) 442-1834. We have volunteers ready to pick you up! Please visit our website, lovingly updated by Terri Eckhardt. http:// ohccsewing.wixsite.com/ohccsewing All are welcome to join us. Dues are $7 per year.
