Tennis News SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | MAY 2019 21 By Joe Iles, Resident The Tennis Club celebrated another exciting Spring Tournament on March 16. Great weather provided the team members the opportunity to show off their competitive skills. Each doubles team battled against every other team, with several matches reaching a tie causing an extra game to decide the winner. At the end of the contest the winning players were Melanie Bofto and Dave Yang. A special thanks to all the players who competed so hard with such great spirit. Thanks also to Michele from The Village for providing the fresh fruit and water. Hope to see everyone at our Fall Tournament on October 19. All SDV residents are invited to watch the fastest and most vigorous team sport in our community. The Tennis Club is always looking for new players. Come down to the courts on either Monday, Tuesday, Friday or Saturday between 9 am to 12 pm for open tennis or to ask any member questions. By Kathy Bird, Resident The cool, cloudless day started with 12 women players. In addition to having fun and getting exercise, they played hard and fast. Each player had eight games, with a new partner in each game. The result was Kay Grasso winning first place, Julie Grant won a very close second, and Sandra King third. The 14 men were placed in two groups of seven players. Each player had six games with a new partner. The two highest scoring in each group played for the championship. Keith Davis and Rus Ingraham won first place and John Rossi and Joe Costello were close behind. The Pickleball Club now has 69 members. The club will have several more tournaments and fun get-togethers throughout the year. We want to thank Rancho Family for providing breakfast and lunch. March 29 Pickleball Club Tournament
