10 SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | MAY 2019
By Dick Roppé, Resident
Now that it's May, how about a short trip? Let's start at your
front door. Now, move slowly around the outside of your house
– please don't hop any walls or fences. On your walk be on the
lookout for any standing water. The common mosquito loves
lounging and laying eggs in dirty pools. Not to be outdone, the
Aedes mosquito can lay eggs in bottle caps, small vases, old tires
and any container that can hold a small amount of water. When
you find it, dump it. Tipping out water and tossing out containers
that hold water are the best solutions for mosquito abatement.
What are some things you can do to keep mosquitoes at bay?
How about a wrist bracelet? Not a winner of an idea. They only
keep skeeters from biting your wrist. Repellents with DEET are
recommended along with covering up.
