creative writers All Sun Lakes writers are invited to join us for our monthly meetings. If you are a pro, a novice or somewhere in between, you will enjoy our sessions. Not only will you get helpful suggestions when we discuss your work, you will be thoroughly entertained by the writings of your fellow members. Here are some of the interesting pieces presented at our last meeting: ��� An adult ���fairy tale��� about a magic ring. ��� A story about the gold rush in the eastern Sierra. ��� A haunting love poem dedicated to a lost loved one. ��� The recounting of a forty-year-old family tragedy. ��� Finding a small mystery along old US 66 in Arizona. ��� A hilarious spoof of the PI type detective story set in modern LA. Come join us every first Monday, 3 - 5 pm, in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. You���re sure to find it a learning experience. Info., Roger Smith, 769-2808. international culture club photography group This month we will be turning in our surveys that will help determine activities for the coming year along with ideas for discussion on photography concepts. If you are new to the group, please feel free to attend, our meetings are always fun and informative. Whether you���ve shot family photos or fantastic works of art, bring them to the March meeting and share your best with us. You can bring prints or a digital image on flash drive or CD to project onto our big screen. Everyone, amateur or pro, is welcome; you can ask for critiques of your work or simply show off. Meetings are the second Monday of each month, March 11 this year, in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room at 7 pm. Try to limit your photos to five, but no one will complain if you bring more. This is a friendly group meeting and there are no dues. Questions? Ask any of our knowledgeable members who can help you with any technical or artistic advice. North Clubhouse WHY? To share, to learn, to help, and mostly to enjoy, each other and our crafts ????? Call Mary Ann Ivey (The Sock Lady) at 769-1095 woodworkers club We are a group of men and women who work in all phases of woodworking. We get together each month on the second Friday of the month in the Main Clubhouse Arts & Craft Room at 3 pm. The group is open to any and all residents of Sun Lakes. You need not be a current woodworker, you only need the interest in woodworking. If you want to get back into woodworking or if you want to start woodworking. We are the place, come join us. Info., Everett Inman, 845-8609. sew what? club We invite you to visit or join us at any time. We meet Tuesdays, 1 - 2:30 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room. If you can sew, knit, or crochet, come and join us as we do our part to help the local charities. Some of the local organizations we service are San Gorgonio Hospital, Beaver Chemo���s, Child Help, H.E.L.P., Child Care Consortium, VNA California and V.A. Hospital at Loma Linda and local convalescent homes. Donations needed: Child print fabrics, pastel fabrics, etc. for spring quilts for new babies. Info., Diane Vecchione, 769-1953. sun lakes quilters All Sun Lakes quilters are welcome to join us at our Monday meetings. We get together at the Main Clubhouse Arts & Crafts Room on the first, third (and fifth) Mondays at 1 pm. Share quilt designs, magazines, craft ideas, etc. We will celebrate Ireland, shamrocks and the Blarney stone with wearing of the green on Thurs., March 14. We will enjoy the traditional corned beef and cabbage with boiled red potatoes, asparagus chicken and green beans almondine at the buffet. Doors open at 5:30 pm, music by the Sophisticats starts at 6 pm, and buffet by table call at 6:30 pm. A dinner salad with tomatoes/red onion rings with ranch and Italian dressings will be preset at the table. Dessert will be chocolate eclairs with whipped cream and a mint leaf. Sign ups are Thurs., March 7, at 3 pm at the North Clubhouse. Cost of the fun event is $22 pp for members and $25 pp for nonresident guests. 50/50 tickets are six for $5. As our members know, the club contributes $100 a month on an alternating basis to two local charities, such as H.E.L.P.
