By the time you are reading this we would have already had a Town Hall meeting in conjunction Lifestyles Advisory Committee I believe the saying goes, March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb. That may be true as far as weather is concerned, but not for the business of Sun Lakes. March is just the beginning of the busiest time of year for the Board. Many issues need to be reviewed, analyzed, and decided on. In addition, there are several large projects that are in process or well into the approval stage that need to be decided on and initiated. One issue currently being investigated is the rules, policies, and procedures relating to renters and landlords as they pertain to Sun Lakes. Another is a complete review of community rules, policies, and procedures relating to golf. Additionally, we are developing a more aggressive approach to delinquent owners and vacant properties. The major projects that have already been approved and are moving forward consist of the following: 1. The complete renovation of the Main Clubhouse entrance and Veranda. Hours of Operation with the Delegate Assembly to inform the community of what changes are being considered. Over the next three months several contracts are expiring that require our review and extensive bid process. Two very important ones are our annual street rehab project, and the landscape maintenance contract. The Board is also working on a strategic plan to define our short term goals, identify long range projects and plans. We feel this is important to insuring we continue to maintain our focus and move forward with purpose. This plan will also be helpful to new Board members in assimilating into their new duties. Yes, March comes in like a lion, but as far as Board duties are concerned, it does not go out like a lamb. Instead, it is just the tip of the iceberg. March signifies the start of whirl wind period of investigations, analysis, and decision making that does not slow down until the annual budget is approved in October. Find a Pet? Lose a Pet? Make sure you have the animal secured, check for any identification and give that information to security. 2. Security will then contact the Animal Rescue Group person in charge. 3. If there is no ID Animal Rescue does have a scanner if the pet has a microchip we will take a picture and put it on a card and post it at the clubhouses with any information. 4. When there are no calls from inside Sun Lakes, we will post the cards within the towns of Banning and Beaumont. 5. We will keep the pet with a foster for a month and then try to find a suitable forever home. If you lose a pet: 1. Call security as they may have already had a call from someone who has found it. 2. If no call has come in, give security all information and they will then contact the Animal Rescue Group person in charge. We will then advertise and try to find the pet. 3. Security will keep an eye out for the pet and pick them up if possible, but will not chase them. 4. Make sure the pet (especially a cat) is not in the house before you call security. 5. Often if you put their bed outside at night, you may find it will come back by itself. community news | sun lakes lifestyles | march 2013 | 3
