Ceramic Corner We are celebrating our one year anniversary this month and spring is just around the corner and rabbits are in full swing. Soon it will be warm again and some of us will be out working in our yards again. To that end, we will be making bumblebees, butterflies and grasshoppers all hand cast in clay. These are great to put on a patio table or in the yard for their color. We are also continuing to make hand-cast pillow vases for your flowers or clippings from your yard, and a wavy spring flower bowl. These samples will be available in the Craft Room for your viewing. There are so many items you can create for yourself, your family and friends or get a jump on your Christmas list. Come check out the class in action on Wednesdays at 1 pm. Camera Club We meet the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Craft Room at the Lodge; thus, our March meeting will be March 19. This group is for all levels, beginners and pros alike, and members are always eager to help and teach. Each month, we have an assignment to take and bring in a photograph of a different genre. We encourage you to attend even if you decide not to bring a picture. We have a lot of fun including photo outings, guest speakers, shows of work, and general sharing of ideas. March will be a busy month. In addition to our regular camera club meeting, there will be a lobby display of photographs of both club members and others. April 18, will bring the Corks and Canvas event where, not only some of our camera club members, but others will be showing some of their pictures. EVERYONES WELCOME TO OUR DIGITAL CAMERA CLASS FOR BEGINNERS! The chairperson of our camera club, George Johnson, will be teaching beginners digital camera classes. They will consist of two sessions; the first session will be March 4 and the second, March 11, both at 6 pm in the Craft Room. So, all of you lucky recipients of new cameras from the holidays, here is a great opportunity to not only learn more about how to take great pictures (its easier than you think), but these two classes are a great way to meet new friends. The Monday classes are designed to be for a specific semester and the Wednesday classes are ongoing throughout the year. The Mondays class schedule for 2013 is Jan. - March 18 (first term), May 20 - July 22 (second term) and Oct. 7 - Dec. 9 (third term). The Wednesday evening classes typically have the more advanced students, many who have begun to work with colored pencils in addition to graphite. A student may attend any of the classes or just one. It is strongly recommended that new students attend the first class of a new semester on a Monday morning before deciding which class day they prefer. It is there that you will get to learn the supplies that you will need and honestly, the first class is lots of fun! The class is led by Rob Kelman, (951) 992-9156, e-mail, rbkdesigns@verizon.net. Please call or email any questions that you have. The class is free! You provide supplies which will be discussed in the first class. Just bring a sheet of paper and a pen or pencil for taking notes.
