Line Dancing I want to send out a huge thank you to Cheryl Staples for teaching the class while I was gone. The class continues to improve and our dancers are looking forward to upcoming performances for the Four Seasons variety shows. The beginning class starts at 3 pm Tuesdays and is only 45 minutes. The advanced class begins at 3:45 pm and is always working on a new dance. We also take the time to dance to old favorites. We sometimes dance so much we actually work up a sweat and we always laugh a lot. Laughter, exercise and friendship all rolled into one. Try it! Any questions? Call (951) 769-3889. ~ Martha Franck Heart & Soul Line Dance Greetings Heart and Soul Line Dancers! First, I want to welcome all of our new dancers. We are happy to have you join us. The Heart and Soul Line Dance Workshop was off the chain. We had an amazing time. Oh, how we danced! And we didnt get to all the dances we planned to teach. I have to give a great big thank you to all the Heart and Soul Line Dance instructors who volunteered to give up their Saturday so they could be with us (although they wont get to read this). We learned new dances, experienced different teaching styles, and made some new friends. Finally, to my dancers thank you. You helped make this workshop possible. Please know that the support you continue to give me is truly appreciated. I look forward to our weekly meeting to dance with you. See you on the dance floor. Class Schedule: Beginner Level: Wednesdays, 4 - 5:20 pm Intermediate Level: Wednesdays, 5:20 - 6 pm For questions contact Priscilla, (951) 922-0755. ~ Priscilla Robles Ballroom Dance Club Each dance is made up from a series of steps. But its boring to do just one step over and over, so other steps are added to make the dance more interesting and fun. Then several steps can be combined into routines, making the experience even more enjoyable. If you are interested in learning to dance, start with the fundamentals and work your way to more advanced dancing. But with one or two lessons youre likely not to learn much, and what you do learn can easily be forgotten. On the other hand, with a series of lessons and some practice, youd be amazed at how much youll learn and how much fun dancing can be. We always try to be sensitive to the needs of our community. You speak and we listen. As a result of your suggestions we now have a new format that should appeal to a wide variety of dance interests. Our Wednesday classes are now made up of different levels, as follows: LEVEL ONE 6 - 6:30 pm. For newcomers to ballroom dancing. Learn basics, such as how to hold a partner, where to put your feet, how to move to the beat of the music. Youll have fun learning steps to several different dances at these sessions. Cost is $5 per person. LEVEL TWO 6 - 7 pm. Build on the basics, learn additional steps and begin to put them 30 together into simple routines. This will help you to enjoy dancing at parties and weddings, and on cruises. Cost is $8 per person. LEVEL THREE 6:30 - 7:30 pm. For those wanting to expand their dancing skill and keep it fun and fresh. Some dance experience, (such as level two or above), is required because we learn more types of dances and more complicated steps and routines. Cost is $10 per person. LEVEL FOUR 7 - 8 pm. At this time, the most advanced dance instructions offered. Previous dance experience, (such as level three or above), is required because this is more challenging, and pushes us to learn and enjoy a much wider variety of steps and routines. Cost is $10 per person. And theres another option: You can pay just $10 and take all the lessons from 6:30 to 8 pm. Our instructors are professional and have many years of experience. If you know anything about dance lessons youll quickly recognize what a great value this is, and it couldnt be more convenient than being right here in our own Ballroom every Monday night. For questions or comments, please contact Puring and Gary Stifter at (951) 922-8333, or at purings@verizon.net. ~ Willis Fagan FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2013 | clubs & Groups Old School Dance All Seasons RV Club Our trip to Lake Havasu and Quartzsite was great. In Havasu we enjoyed the hot air balloons, eating at Shugrus, shopping at Dillards, potlucks, and staying warm by the campfire. We also enjoyed a day trip to the historic town of Oatman on old Route 66. After we encountered the burros and spent time in the many shops, we had lunch at the infamous Oatman Hotel where Gable and Lombard spent their honeymoon after their car broke down. Some of our members went to Quartzsite and enjoyed bonfires, tent shopping, eating out and a 4x4 off-road Jeep ride. Some continued on to Laughlin and Ocotillo Wells. March 10 to March 15, we will be at Santee Lakes. Ann Williams and Jill Yanes are planning this trip. They have some fun things planned for us. There will be a fishing derby for the men, card games in the lodge one night, and a bingo night with white elephants as prizes. Of course, the women will undoubtedly go on a shopping trip one day! Also, in the planning stage is a trip for May 14 to 24, to some of Californias finest wine regions. We will begin with a stay in Paso Robles where we will tour wineries, visit the downtown shopping area, and eat at a Basque restaurant. You should have already made your reservations for the Wine Country RV Resort for May 14 to May 16. Information for the second part of the trip will be available sometime in March. The campground where we will be staying near Healdsburg is closed until then. Dorothy and Steve Meier and Nancy and Ron Morgan will be wagon masters for this trip. Future trips are planned for the Elks Rodeo in Santa Maria May 29 to June 2 and to Big Bear Lake July 21 to July 28. If you have an RV come join us on one of our trips. We promise you will have a fantastic time! Our meetings are on the second Tuesday of the month at 6 pm in the Arts and Crafts Room at the Lodge. ~ Nancy Morgan The RV Club enjoyed lunch at the Oatman Hotel. Join us on March 22, from 6 to 8 pm, to dance to the tunes from 50s Rock and Roll and 60s R & B to the Motown era and beyond with the smooth sounds of Jazz and down home Blues. Its not a contest and you dont need a partner to have fun free style dancing. Lets return to the dance floor and celebrate good times with a relaxing beverage or snack or buy something from Smittys and bring it in. Join your fellow residents, new and old alike, who like old school music and enjoy learning new dances plus keep fit while living life to the fullest!
