Ping Pong Club As the deadline for publication in the Breeze arrived, several members of our Ping Pong Group just finished competing in the 2013 Palm Desert Senior Games & International Sports Festival. There will be more details and pictures in the April issue of the Breeze but the highlights included strong performances by several of our members. Pete Antoine, Gilbert Apodaca, Rick Jimenez, Lou Laurent, Mac McLeod, Suchart Sudhamma, and Niles Sundstrom captured some very nice medals in their respective events. As competitive as this tournament was, our table tennis group is not just about competition. It is also about having fun and getting in some good exercise at the same time. So, whether you are a beginner or an Olympic champion, there is a place for you in our group. Come out and enjoy the fun Monday through Friday at 10:30 am and Saturday at 11 am. Please contact Niles Sundstrom at 572-5119 or Alan Chan at 769-4202 if you have any questions or need more information about your Four Seasons Ping Pong Group. ~ Niles Sundstrom Racquet Club Just five days to go before heading to the BNP Paribas in Indian Wells. Breaking News and GOOD news the FSBRC approved the purchase of a new ball machine dependent on member donations and pledges plus $400 from the Committee. The $1500 Silent Partner machine is AC powered, with remote, holds 300 balls, has spin capabilities, fires up to 95 mph and has a two-year warranty. This model was presented to us by Howard Lyon as the most ideal machine among the 6 or 8 he evaluated, given our requirements. The acquisition was unanimously approved. Barbara Miller graciously agreed to poll our members, answer questions, and seek contributions and pledges as well as determining participant usage. At press time, we had exceeded our goal and wish to thank Barbara for such a complete, timely and successful conclusion! And to our members who acted so decisively and generously we send out Valentine hugs game-set-match! Our next Playday is Saturday, March 30. Open doubles play following warm-ups and drills with Instructors Irve, Randy and Larry. ~ Ken Elliott Seniors gone wild! 4x4 Seasons We had our first outing on Feb. 2, at Ocotillo Wells. Navigating the twists and turns through canyons and crevices in search of the unique places that make the badlands so special were seven Jeeps and an Artic Cat. We discovered hidden coves full of huge concretions known as the Pumpkin Patch. Our first outing was a success with Trail Bosses Rick and Jamie Brower leading the way. Our next adventure will be April 1, with a trip to Death Valley. We welcome all off road enthusiasts to join us, come prepared with water, snacks, a trusty off-road rig, and most importantly a keen sense of adventure. Our next meeting is March 12, at 7 pm in the Arts and Crafts Room. For additional information contact Rick Brower, jamiebbad@aol,com; George Johnson, gjohnson23@dc.rr.com, or Ann Williams, wilymz@ att.net - Ann Williams ~ Ann Williams Paddle Tennis Hi Paddlers As the paddle courts are washed and maintained every Tuesdays, we have changed our play days to Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from 2 to 4 pm.
