| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2019 | 31 We have had the most amazing spring ,thanks to all the rainfall this past winter. Now the hot days of summer are here and off we go to the beach or even a barbecue with friends and family. A classic song of summer is In The Good Old Summertime. Though this song was written in 1902, it evokes images of a scene of summertime in possibly the Victorian era of the late 1800s. You can almost hear a barbershop quartet giving this song the flavor it was written and meant for. Maybe this summer you'll join Barb Miller, Rosie Ingalls & D.J. Blast for "Goodtimes Karaoke." You can sing a song of summertime or any other season or style that suits your fancy. Join Rosie, Barb & D.J. in the South Clubhouse Sat., June 15 from 5:30 until 9 pm. Join us this June for friendship, fun, singing and dancing at Sun Lake's own "Goodtimes Karaoke." As usual we will keep a microphone on for you. Karaoke Group Chorale The Chorale of Sun Lakes entertained the community with its 28th annual Spring Concert Series last month, with an eclectic program that included songs from Broadway, the 40s, classics, movies, folk music, and pop culture. We appreciate the tremendous support the community has offered us for almost three decades, and we look forward to providing quality entertainment for many years to come. After a summer hiatus, the Chorale will reassemble on Mon., Sept. 9, to prepare for a special multi-holiday series in November, called "Family Fall Festival, Home for the Holidays." All Sun Lakers are welcome to join. If you love to sing and decide to join us, contact Director Mark Faber at dmfaber@me.com or (443) 285-1002. We have several get-togethers over the summer, and we'd love to meet you. Musician's Jam Do you play an instrument - any instrument - and would enjoy playing with other musicians, we invite you to join us for some "jammin." No special talent required. We are a group who will get together just for the fun of music and will be playing together but also would invite solo players to entertain us. We meet the third Wednesday at the North Clubhouse from 6:30 to 8 pm. So bring your instrument, favorite music, music stand (if needed) and a grin. For information contact Joyce Close at (951) 267-3234. JOIN US! Do you like to sing? Sun Lakes has its own Barbershop Chorus that meets every Wednesday morning in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room from 9 to 11 am. The sheet music and audio learning materials are furnished to help even the novice enjoy the experience. You can sing in this men's chorus or enjoy a quartet experience with three other guys. We all have a song in our heart waiting to come out. So visit us and sing along! Enjoy a coffee and donut at the break. For more information and a personal invitation contact Jim Langford at 769-6065. Barbershop Chorus
