34 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2019 | We are all enjoying our spring weather and still resting before we start on our next scheduled events. A belated Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers in our club and we hope you had a joyous day celebrating with your families. This month we celebrate Father's Day and we send our best wishes to all the fathers in our club and may you enjoy your special day with your loved ones. Due to the Charity week festivities, we will go dark in the month of June and resume our monthly meeting in July. Our next potluck is Wed., June 26 at 6 pm at the South Clubhouse. More information will follow via email regarding this event, so put this date on your calendar and come out and enjoy some good food and friendship with your fellow members. Here are some SAVE THE DATES for your calendars: Auditions for our Oct. 24 - 27 production of It's a Wonderful Life are July 18 and 19 at 9 am in the Bus Room. Our annual classical concert will be Aug. 4 at 2 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. This is a concert you won't want to miss! More information on these events will be forthcoming at our future meetings. Our meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 1 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. If you have any interest in acting, helping backstage, volunteering for other jobs, or are curious about what we do, come join us to see what we are all about. Join our Facebook group "Sun Lakes Playhouse" for more information as it happens. For membership information, please contact Sue Dunn at (951) 769-7552 or at alsuedunn@gmail.com. Club Business: Sept. 22 - 27 Zion River RV Resort, Utah. Cabins available! Sign-ups mid-July. Emerald Cove Shenanigans: The RV Club escaped to Emerald Cove Resort in Parker, Arizona on April 8, for nearly a week of fun, sun, and water adventure. Our spaces spanned three rows, the closest of which was mere feet from the river. We played Bolo Ball just a few feet from the water with onlookers under shady pop-ups cheering the players on. Due to wind that blew in the next day, our second game, beanbag baseball, was held in the huge onsite clubhouse. Members had a blast spurring on their team members and good-naturedly heckling opponents. The resort has an excellent open-air café/bar with an outdoor pool on one side and a covered pool on the other. Some of the club members made their way to the café/bar that night for dinner and wine-based mixed drinks. Who knew a wine-based margarita could taste so good! The night ended with jukebox music, dancing, and some impromptu karaoke. Golf day was a delight at the Emerald Canyon Golf Course. The hills and valleys holes were challenging, but fun to play. Emerald Cove Resort is a member only resort, but our club is lucky enough to have several members, so the rest of us were able to attend as guests for only $20 per night — a real deal. Two of those resort members happened to have boats, so they treated those who were willing with rides on the river. Our group stopped at the Roadrunner Floating Dock Bar. The drinks and cheer flowed! For our awards night dinner, we went to Strokes Restaurant in Parker, Arizona on their all-you-can-eat fish and chips night. Those who didn't order the special made a huge mistake in my humble opinion. The fish was light, tasty, and moist, and the coating was crispy. Excellent food with a wonderful rustic atmosphere. Afterward, several of us stopped on our way back to the RVs to donate some money to the local BlueWater Resort & Casino. Fun and games! Our next outing is in September at Zion River Resort in Utah. The site has cabins for rent. So, you have no excuse not to join the club and come and have a great time with us! To join, contact Sandy Alexanian at (951) 381-1292. We'd love to have you!
