52 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JUNE 2019 | The Summer Tournament begins the week of June 10. As always, we play later in the summer, 5, 6, 7 and 8 pm, in an effort to beat the heat! Keep in mind we only play Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday during the summer, since fewer teams sign up. Club members need only pay the team fee of $3 pp, to be eligible for this tournament. If you are new to bocce, club dues must be paid, $12 pp, per year, plus the "team fee." New teams must fill out an entry card, available in the cabinet. Returning teams, just put your $12 in an envelope, put names on it and include your choice of day to play. Deliver said envelope to 1288 Pleasant Valley. There is a box at her door. Confused yet? This is a plea to our membership! PLEASE, PLEASE include a second choice with your team entries! It is extremely difficult to work out a schedule given the number of teams and the flexibility of individuals' schedules. Our Tournament Chair's job would be so much easier, given choices. Questions? Call Dutch at (951) 845-0392. Friends of Bocce Friday mornings, 9 am in the North Clubhouse. Cost is only $5 per week (or $20 per month). Tai chi (Tie-Chee) is an ancient Chinese tradition that, today, is practiced as a graceful form of exercise. It involves a series of movements performed in a slow, focused manner and accompanied by deep breathing. Originally developed for self-defense, tai chi has evolved into a graceful form of exercise that's now used for stress reduction and a variety of other health conditions. Often described as meditation in motion, Tai Chi promotes serenity through gentle, flowing movements. The tradition of Tai Chi dates back to at least the 15th century in China, and the practice is based on the belief that balancing the opposite forces in the body (known as yin and yang) will encourage the flow of chi (energy) through the body to promote health. You may also find Tai Chi appealing because it's inexpensive and requires no special equipment. Tai Chi can be done anywhere, alone or in a group class. If you're looking for a way to reduce stress, consider Tai Chi and join fellow Sun Lakers in developing strength in balance, stamina, and flexibility. Info., Dee Coughtry, (951) 381-4919.
