FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2019 45 Women's Evening Bible Study All women are welcome to our non-denominational Bible study. Ask a neighbor or friend to join in and share in the blessings. We will gather together on Thursdays, June 6 and 20 from 6:30 to 7:45 pm in The Lodge Game Room. There is a sign-up sheet in The Lodge. I will contact you and answer questions you may have. We have been on a prayer journey for several months. The lessons have included: The purpose of prayer, the attitude of prayer, and praise and worship in prayer. We learned that the pathway of prayer leads to a more intimate relationship with God. King David and the prophet Elijah were mighty men of prayer, who believed that God listened to them, and would answer their cry for help. We pray for one another, and have received many answers to our prayers. "The right way to pray is to stretch out our hands and ask the One who we know has the heart of a father." Dietrich Bonhoeffer, executed in a concentration camp April 1945. We encourage regular participants to plan casual get-togethers during the break. We will email any prayer requests we receive as we continue to support each other in prayer. We will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 10. We meet in the third section of The Lodge Ballroom weekly at 7 pm. Please contact Doc or Letha Sellars with any questions or comments at (951)797-3302 or docletha72@gmail.com. ~ Doc Sellars We have been studying Paul's letters to the people in Corinth of Achaia (present day Greece), who had been worshiping idols and basically forgot all of Paul's teachings during his second and third missionary journeys to Corinth. He wrote First and Second Corinthians during a three-year stay in Ephesus during his third missionary journey. Paul writes that he is frustrated by the many factions that had developed in Corinth: some followed Paul, some followed Apollos, some followed Peter, and some followed Christ. He reminds them over and over in the epistles that they are to be followers of and emulate Jesus Christ only. In these epistles we have been talking about Paul's heart and how much he loved and cared for the Corinthian church. The confusion and deterioration in the churches Paul had planted most likely caused him frustration and sadness, resulting in a strong desire to return to them. Instead, he wrote letters to these followers of Christ, sometimes encouraging them, sometimes correcting them, sometimes chastening them, but always expressing his love for them. We will complete our study of Second Corinthians on June 7, which also happens to be our summer party in the Ballroom. We will have a lesson first, then dismiss to the first section of the Ballroom for our potluck luncheon and party. On June 14, we will begin our study of the wonderful Book of Romans. Ladies, if you are interested in studying the Word of God in the company of amazing and beautiful women, you are more than welcome to join us every Friday from 10:30 to 11:45 am in the Game Room at The Lodge. This is a non-denominational study and all versions of the Bible are welcomed.
