22 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JUNE 2019 | "With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning!" Kindness Recognition: We, in Team Sunshine, express our appreciation to one special lady, Lucille Gould. She is pictured here with Kindness Chair, Sharon Uhlken. This month's Kindness Award goes to Lucille who, without hesitation, relinquished her Ballroom reservation so Team Sunshine could prepare the Celebration of Life for OUR Jane Pearce. Jane's daughters had a very small window where they could plan the special services for their 97-year-old mother. The fact that we confirmed the room for this celebration made the rest of the preparation go quickly and smoothly. Thank you for your kindness, Lucille. We applaud your good heart! Please be reminded of the "Kindness" recognition. Kindness is one of the most important gestures we can extend to one another. We are hoping that we will all take time to think before we act. You can pick up a "Kindness" card at the front desk. If you observe someone who has put forth a special effort to be kind, helping, or caring, simply obtain a card from the front desk. Please include the person's name and a comment why you are recommending this individual for kindness recognition. Celebrations of Life/Memorials: We were notified of the passing of John Domenech, Stella Ferguson, Donald Bechtol, Anna Lombardo Bullock and Jane Pearce. A private reception was held at Stella Torres' home for John Domenech. A procession to Riverside National Cemetery of Four Seasons friends and family preceded the reception. We were saddened to learn of the passing of Stella Ferguson, long-time dance instructor here in Four Seasons. We extend our condolences to her family and friends. A celebration of life may be planned at a later date. The Bechtol family gathered for a celebration of life for Donald on April 20 in the Lodge Ballroom. A review of Donald's life was provided by many family members. We express our sincere sympathy to Joyce and her wonderful family. Family and friends gathered in the Lodge Ballroom on April 22, to honor the life of Jane Pearce. Jane had been a resident since 2003. Many residents spoke of Jane's involvement in so many activities. She is sorely missed. She was a community icon who was never without a smile and a cheery word of greeting to all. We miss that sweet face and extend our condolences to her family and friends. Anne Lombardo-Bullock's services were held off-campus. A viewing was scheduled on April 24 at Miller-Jones in Sun City; a memory service was scheduled at St. Anthony's Catholic Church on April 25, and a memorial service was held on April 27 at Menifee Bible Church. We extend our sympathy to Roy Bullock and family in the loss of their loved one. We are not always aware of losses in the Four Seasons community, but we express our condolences to those who are mourning the loss of a loved one. There are no words that sufficiently comfort the family and friends of Four Seasons residents in the loss of a family member. Our deepest sympathies go out to each. Programs: Our June 20 program will be presented by Jane Farmer, Community Relations Director at Desert Hills Memory Care. Jane will take us through a simplified tour of the brain and we will learn how it is affected by Dementia. With pictures and statistics, this topic will help better your understanding of the disease. She will discuss the difference between Alzheimer's and Dementia. Please plan to join us in the Ballroom on June 20 for this interesting and special presentation. Team Sunshine Information: Please fill out a *NEEDS* Form at the Lodge Front Desk if you know of someone who has recently lost a loved one. This form can also be used for various kinds of needs assistance. In case you prefer not to call but would like us to know of a need, this form will record your concern and will be passed on to the appropriate Team Sunshiner. By the way, we encourage you to ask for a Team Sunshine Caring Connection Card at the Lodge front desk as a reminder of the services we offer to the Four Seasons community. Medical Equipment: We do have donated/used medical equipment that we deliver and pick up from residents. Residents who request medical equipment are required to sign a waiver form. Return of medical equipment is requested by contacting Jeanne Lincoln (765-7112). We have enlarged the medical equipment team to include: Rose Harvey, Donna Morrell and Patty Jones. In Team Sunshine, no one "gets the job done alone." Our Prayer Warriors: Marietta Ruppaner conducts a prayer circle once a month to pray for our residents in need. All are welcome to attend the prayer circle. Just give Marietta a call and she'll give you the date, time and place. Also, if you have a prayer request, get in touch with Marietta or place your prayer request in the Prayer Box in the MPR. We are thankful for the service they give to our community. Closing Thoughts: "The thing that lies at the foundation of positive change, the way I see it, is service to a fellow human being." ~ Lee lacocca Team Sunshine
