Due to some of the excursion refund policies and to keep cancellations down to a minimum, we ask those who wish to sign up for an excursion to please check your calendar for prior engagements prior to signing up for excursions. REFUND POLICY: 1. Cancellations made 30 days prior to the departure date of an excursion or special event will qualify for a full refund, unless otherwise specified. 2. Cancellations made after the 30 day refund deadline are not refundable. However, if an excursion or event has sold out and there is a wait list, the Recreation Department may issue a refund if the ticket can be resold from the wait list. For theater excursions, please let staff know at the time of sign up if you would like to sit next to a specific person. For casino trips, residents must provide addresses for their guests. Passengers need to be in good physical health, able to board and re-board a motorcoach bus (several times if needed), walk up and down a flight of stairs and be able to walk reasonable distances. Passengers should know their own limitations before signing up for some trips* ON A TRIAL BASIS, YOUR NUMBER FOR LOADING ON THE BUS WILL BE DETERMINED BY WHEN YOU BOUGHT YOUR TICKET. FIRST ONE TO BUY A TICKET WILL BE NUMBER 1 TO LOAD THE BUS. EXCURSIONS EXCURSION SIGN UPS: MON., JULY 1, AT 8 AM If you are looking for enjoyment, friendships, new places to see, or just to get out for the day, try coming along for one of the many day trips that the Recreation Department has to offer. We travel to Museums, Casinos, Live Theater, Symphonies, Gardens, Concerts and we also offer a few multiple day trips throughout the year. Some trips will offer lunches or dinners that are included in the price. Flyers can be found in the Main Clubhouse Lobby or call the Recreation Department for more information on the fabulous day trips and special events. If the 1st falls on a Saturday or Sunday then sign-ups will begin on the following Monday. If a holiday falls on the first day of the month, sign-ups will begin the next day. WAITING LIST POLICY: The waiting list is created by the Rec. Dept. for sold out events/excursions. This list is used (in order of registration) when the attendee has to cancel due to illness, doctor's appointment, etc. The waiting list is not used for additional sign-ups for secondary excursions that are scheduled due to their popularity. Contact the Rec. Dept. if you have any questions about either of these two policies. WE ACCEPT CHECKS ONLY. You can register up to 4 people (including yourself ) per check per household, payable to Sun Lakes Country Club. All Recreation Classes, Excursions and Special Events are open to residents only, unless otherwise specified. Day at the getty center Wed., Sept. 4, 7:30 am-5 pm, $36 pp. Nestled above Brentwood on a hilltop in Santa Monica Mountains, the 24-acre campus houses the Getty Research Institute, the Getty Conservation Institute, the Getty Foundation and the J. Paul Getty Trust. The Getty Center is renowned for its permanent collection, which includes pre-20th century European paintings, drawings, illuminated manuscripts, sculpture and decorative arts; 19th and 20th century American, European and Asian photographs; and contemporary and modern sculpture. pechanga casino Thurs., Sept. 19, 9:30 am – 5:30 pm, $5 pp. Spend a five hour-stay at Pechanga Resort & Casino. A vast 200,000+ square foot gaming floor makes Pechanga, California's biggest casino. Designed with player comfort in mind, the casino is equipped with a state-of-the- art air filtration system and offers extensive non-smoking areas. 3,000+ slots & videos and over 130+ table games. Griffith observatory + l.a.'s farmers market and the grove Wed., Sept. 25, 7 am-5 pm, $36 pp. There will be lots of walking, bring comfortable shoes. We will start the day of traveling to the L.A Farmers Market where you will have time to shop and stock up on those hard to find items that only they can offer. The Farmers Market features more than 100 vendors, including ready-to-eat foods, grocers, and tourist shops. You will also have the chance to visit The Grove, adjacent to the Farmers Market which is a retail and entertainment complex. Next, we will then head to the Griffith Observatory. Griffith Observatory has been a leader of public astronomy since it opened in 1935. More people have looked through Griffith Observatory's telescope than any other telescope on Earth. In addition, its iconic façade has been featured in more than 300 films and television shows. The Observatory is a Los Angeles landmark and worldwide tourist destination for over a million visitors a year. Their mission, "Griffith Observatory inspires everyone to observe, ponder, and understand the sky," is realized each day in the exhibit halls and the Samuel Oschin Planetarium and each night as visitors gaze at the cosmos with their own eyes through the historical 12-inch Zeiss refracting telescope or our lawn telescopes.
