| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2019 | 3 From the President's Desk By Sandra Moyer Summer is here! We have had a couple of weeks to recuperate from a fabulous Charity Week and prepare to celebrate July 4 and our annual parade. I hope all interested have registered your cart or float. The Recreation Department is working hard to make this another fun event. Cynthia Mirchado in the Recreation Department has left Sun Lakes to accept another position. Jason Ewals will cover until we can find a replacement. The South Clubhouse renovation is completed and looks fantastic. Please stop by and take a look and a big thank you goes out to Mark Schleiden for job well done! The Board is working with FirstService Residential to present a workshop for residents interested in running for the Master Board. We hope to schedule this sometime within the next couple of months, so watch for dates and times. Just a reminder: The weather is better now and it should be easier to get out and get our yards back in shape. Board members and Management have had an increase in complaints from residents concerning yards not being cut regularly or weeds being pulled. We all want Sun Lakes and our personal property to look good. I wrote this article on Flag Day and remembered an article I received about HOAs flying Old Glory following the U.S. Flag Code. • Display the flag in public from sunrise to sunset. It can be displayed at night if it is illuminated during darkness. • Do not display the flag in inclement weather, unless it is an all- weathered flag. • The flag can fly on all days, especially on national holidays, other days that may be proclaimed by the president, and dates of admission of states into the union. • Do not fly the flag upside down. This represents a signal of distress in moments of extreme danger to life or property. • Do not let the flag touch anything beneath it, including the ground, floor, water, or other objects. • No part of the flag should have any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature. Happy Fourth of July and hope to see you at our Board meeting Wed., July 24 at 6:30 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. NEW TO SUN LAKES? The management team will conduct a New Homeowner Orientation on Thurs., Aug. 22, in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom at 4 pm. Staff will be present to discuss the various aspects of Sun Lakes and answer questions new owners may have concerning the community. Please RSVP by Wed, Aug. 21 to the Main Clubhouse receptionist either in person or by calling (951) 845-2191. FOURTH OF JULY PHOTOS! We need residents to send in photos from Fourth of July celebrations at Sun Lakes! Make sure everyone in your pictures is aware and approves of being published in the Lifestyles magazine before submitting — this is a must! Also, please remember we encourage you to send in pictures of residents having fun at club events to accompany the articles in the Lifestyles magazine! NOTE: Last month's EPAP article about the emergency drill was accompanied by several photos taken by Anita Lawrence. She is very generous with her time and talent and we appreciate it.
