40 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2019 | Silent Knowledge When we meditate and still the mind, we can receive knowledge from the Silence beyond. This is especially beneficial for spiritual seekers. The Self (God) which is none other than our True Self (not separate from us) wants to communicate truth to the mind. It is like a Spiritual Law whose powerful intent is to reveal what is of God and what is not. The transmission can come as a voice heard, a dream or just a knowing, but the mind has to be very quiet to apprehend the meaning. Since it comes from the very source of our being, we automatically respect and act according to its dictates. How do we know that this communication is authentic and true? The answer is simple. We KNOW. There is no doubt. If there is doubt, then the Self will give the same message again and again until the doubt and lack of clarity has been dispelled. Since our true nature is of God, then the ability to apprehend truth is much more available to us than we realize. The mind is wonderful, it is a great tool to help us get through life's everyday affairs; however, we have ascribed to it all power and identified with it and all of its content. The mind does not define us! We are free flowing Consciousness without definition and without boundary – with the full power of Self (God) inherent in our being. When the mind becomes quiet, and it will when we signify our desire for spiritual liberation, we begin to apprehend our true Self and are bound to follow truth. Satsung (Group meeting with a spiritual aim) begins with a 30 min. meditation (15 min if new people are present) followed by a discourse and a short video presentation offered by a teacher adhering to the teaching of Non-Duality. As always questions are warmly encouraged. We meet in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room (next to the Library). We meet Sundays from 11:30 am to 1 pm. This is a free offering. My background includes 30 years of formal spiritual practice under the guidance of two masters and 10 years of teaching (eight at Sun Lakes). You need not bring anything except an Open Mind. My name is Gina and I can be reached at gina-sat@msn.com or (951) 846-1220 if you have further questions. Meditation: a pathway to truth Happy Cookers Like a great neighbor... quickly! Who do you think of? We at Happy Cookers agree it's Banning's own Albertsons. Whether you are a regular shopper or just do a quick "run in" for their delicious salads, Albertsons is a friend to Sun Lakers. And once again in July they will be coming to our meeting. They bring all the fixings and show us how to cook for two or that special "one," YOU. Come to the South Clubhouse on July 26 at 11 am to learn a few tricks for making life easier in the kitchen. We don't necessarily mind cooking, but get us out of the kitchen ASAP, especially during the heat of summer. Please do not use the back door as set up is taking place and we don't want any injuries. Questions about the meeting, contact Wendy at (951) 845-5553 or Carolyn Wright, membership chair, (951) 797-3568. Guests are always welcomed.
