22 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JULY 2019 | "With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning!" Kindness Recognition: Please be reminded of "Kindness" recognition. Kindness is one of the most important gestures we can extend to one another. We are hoping that we will all take time to think before we act. You can pick up a "Kindness" card at the front desk. If you observe someone who has put forth a special effort to be kind, helping, or caring, simply obtain a card from the front desk. Please include the person's name and a comment why you are recommending this individual for kindness recognition. If you have questions regarding kindness recognition, please contact Sharon Uhlken (391-3309). Celebrations of Life/Memorials: We were notified of the passing of Ed Watt, Duane Smith, David Jones, Brad King and Cynthia Beech. We are saddened by the loss of our neighbors and friends in Four Seasons. Our condolences go out to all who have experienced this loss. We are not always aware of all the losses in this community, but we express our condolences to those who are mourning the loss of a loved one. There are no words that sufficiently comfort the family and friends but we extend our deepest sympathies to each. We often say that there are no words to express our sympathy to these families. This is so true. We struggle hoping to convey what a privilege it is for Team Sunshine to be part of their celebration. We meet the most amazing, wonderful, strong and caring individuals as we "walk a little bit into their life" - particularly at a time when their hearts have been broken. May we just say, "thank you for allowing us to share this time with you." We are here to help. A Celebration of Life for Ed Watt was held on May 16. Family and friends gathered in the Multipurpose Room to honor the life of this very special neighbor and friend. Ed was an avid fisherman especially for Marlin. He was also a golfer. A "hole-in- one" trophy was prominent at the celebration. Our hearts go out to Sue and family members in their loss. A Celebration of Life was held on June 1 in the Lodge Ballroom for family and friends of David Jones. A remembrance of Dave's military service was observed. A "gun salute" and the presentation of the American flag to wife, Mollie, was very special. What an honor to be part of this family's celebration. The warmth, love and support to this dear family by all was memorable. A Celebration of Life was held for Duane Smith on June 6, in the Lodge Ballroom for family and friends. Duane was an avid spear fisherman. We were privileged to hear the many stories of this activity from his family (seven children). We extend our condolences to Susan, family and friends. Programs: Our June 20 program was presented by Jane Farmer, Community Relations Director at Desert Hills Memory Care. Jane took us through a simplified tour of the brain and the dementia. July finds us presenting a program entitled, "Best Practices for Keeping You Out of the Hospital" by Dr. Curtis Combs. Please mark your calendars for Thurs., July 18 in the Lodge Ballroom at 3 pm. Team Sunshine Information: Please fill out a *NEEDS* Form at The Lodge Front Desk if you know of someone who has recently lost a loved one. This form can also be used for various kinds of needs assistance. In case you prefer not to call but would like us to know of a need, this form will record your concern and will be passed on to the appropriate Team Sunshiner. By the way, we encourage you to ask for a Team Sunshine Caring Connection Card at The Lodge front desk as a reminder of the services we offer to the Four Seasons Community. Medical Equipment: We do have donated/used medical equipment that we deliver and pick up from residents. Residents who request medical equipment are required to sign a waiver form. Return of medical equipment is requested by contacting Jeanne Lincoln (765-7112). We have enlarged the medical equipment team to include: Rose Harvey, Donna Morrell and Patty Jones. In Team Sunshine, no one "gets the job done alone." Our Prayer Warriors: Marietta Ruppaner conducts a prayer circle once a month to pray for our residents in need. All are welcome to attend the prayer circle. Just give Marietta a call and she'll give you the date, time and place. Also, if you have a prayer request, get in touch with Marietta or place your prayer request in the Prayer Box in the MPR. We are thankful for the service they give to our community. Closing Thoughts: "I always like to look on the optimistic side of life, but I am realistic enough to know that life is a complex matter." - Walt Disney Team Sunshine
