32 | OHCC LIVING | JULY 2019 | The Ocean Hills Pet Lovers Club is proud to announce its very special annual summer meeting/brunch on Sat., Aug. 10, at 9:15 am (we are starting earlier than usual). Set-up will be at 9 am; we will eat at 9:15 and have our business meeting while you are eating. Our raffle for door prizes will be at 10 am. This brunch is for all currently active Pet Lovers Club members. If non-members are interested, they can join the club by putting a check for dues at the clubhouse. They should also email Ellen to get on her email list for details of the brunch. Along with the Pet Lovers Club members, the meeting will be open to the OHCC Village Vets starting at 10:30 am to hear motivational speaker Staff Sergeant Jason Morgan who is coming in from Dallas Texas for the weekend. Since we have to set up chairs for Village Vet members after our brunch we need to have an idea of how many Pet Lovers members want to attend the brunch for table set-ups. So, please call (she prefers an email) or email her as soon as possible to let her know if you are interested in attending the brunch and what you want to bring to share. Ellen's mail is petloversclub@cox.net and phone number is (760) 305-7114. Pet Lovers Club President, Ellen Kippel, said that our Special Event on June 2 was a great success. Professionals from the Humane Society and Rancho Coastal Veterinary Hospital gave rabies injections, provided microchips, and licensed dogs brought to the overflow parking area. Local vendors got a chance to display their products and services. In addition to many dogs and their resident owners, there were small children and one of the most senior members of the community. We also had a "first" for our community. At Ellen's invitation, the local police provided DEA agents for residents to drop off unused prescription medications. People lined up in cars waiting to hand off their bags of medications to the officers, suggesting that this was a welcomed service. Pet Lovers Club Yiddish Club Chai, Yiddish Clubbers! We hope that you enjoyed the bountiful, tasty deli food at our recent Picnic for Passion and Patriotism, and the terrific entertainment of Wendy&Rik.… so talented and so much fun to hear their singing, see their dancing, and share in the pleasure. We will let you know via email about the donations we were able to make from the proceeds of the luncheon. Thank you all for attending and for helping us contribute to the worthy projects. Your board will be "recuperating" from the luncheon during the month of July and, hopefully, putting together a slate of officers to run for the YC board for 2020. We are required to appoint a nominating committee during the month of June and prepare a slate for election of officers in October, to be installed at the luncheon in December. Please let us know if you are interested in serving the Yiddish Club for next year! We have some very hard, devoted workers, and we welcome you to the table. Our next meeting will be on Mon., Aug. 19 and we look forward to seeing you then. Program to be announced soon.
