42 | OHCC LIVING | JULY 2019 | Founders Duplicate Bridge Friday Duplicate Bridge Attendance has declined in the weekly duplicate game. When we have fewer than five tables the Mitchell movement for passing the boards is no longer feasible. We then use the Howell movement, which has only one winner, as there is no N/S and E/W. We now have table guide cards for three and four tables which clearly indicate which table the players have to move to and which boards have to be played. If the wrong boards get picked up the game cannot be scored and we cannot report a winner for that week. If you are a current intermediate duplicate player, a rubber bridge player who wants to learn the duplicate game, or a former bridge player (college maybe?) or taking bridge classes here at OHCC, then come join us. We are a friendly bunch. We play every Tuesday at 6:30 pm (Check in at 6:15 pm) at Abravanel Hall or the Mykonos room. Player donation of $3 is requested. Please bring correct amount. Annual dues are $6. For partnership, arrangements please contact Phyllis Skall, (858) 405-2684 or email pskall@yahoo.com. Please join us! We offer a Duplicate Bridge game that combines the superior scoring of Duplicate Bridge but also has the friendlier and non- aggressive attitude of home style Rubber Bridge. With Duplicate Bridge, your true opponents are the pairs that hold the same cards as you would rather than your opponents at the table. We are not an ACBL game and for that, we not only offer an extremely reasonable game price of just $2, but also give cash awards to the winners. If you are interested, please call John Gates at (760) 295-5885, the president of this bridge club, to see if this type of game might meet your expectations. We are relatively small and have anywhere from five to eight tables. The games are at 1 pm on the second, fourth, and fifth Fridays of the month in Mykonos. You do not have to join this club to play your first game, however if you decide to join the annual dues are $6. Doors open at 6:30 pm and games start promptly at 7 pm. Cost is still $8 for 10 games. See you there. Thanks to all from your BINGO staff!
