54 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2019 Three-Thirteen Dominoes There was a lot going on in the Dominoes Group in June. First, there was our regular battle for the monthly championship. Robert Turner was the domino champ for June with 25 wins beating Dean Delaney with 24 wins. Robert has been on a roll, he also won the personalized trophy last month. Second, the trophy competition for the annual Fourth of July clubs/events that was sponsored by Four Seasons Beaumont took place. Members from different clubs were fully engaged to win the trophies. The one-on-one domino trophy winners were Lee Harris, first place; Reggie Fuqua, second place; and John Bragg, third place. In the Domino-Billiards competition Leroy Wright and Gracie won the first-place trophy in billiards; Dewey Allen and Pete Antoine came in second place; Lee Harris and Dale Weekley came in third place; and father and daughter team Aaron and Kim Samuels came in fourth place. Congratulations to all of the winners and everyone who participated in the games. A big thank you to Cindy Graves and Four Seasons Beaumont for sponsoring the events and trophies. Dominoes are played every Wednesday and Friday from 5 to 9 pm in The Lodge Game Room. Practice is from 5 to 6 pm on both days. Come out and join us, have some fun, and make some new friends. Jesse Dimmer is usually available to give you help and tips on the game of dominoes if needed. For more information, call Jesse at (951) 769-2035 or Reggie at (951) 769-6483. ~ Marvin Gaines Boom! And that's how it's done … Score only 20 points in 11 rounds to take first-place. That's exactly what Brenda Brazeal did to garner top spot in the first-ever Three-Thirteen tournament held recently. Andy Lunetta came in second with 32 points and Caryn McSweeney scored third place with 45. Congratulations to all … now go find Andy, he has your trophies. High-fives go to other low scorers who didn't get a trophy but played tough for the month — Barbara Dipoma, Kathy Craven, Beverly Lunetta, and Dave and Bre Moreland. Three Thirteen is an easy and fast-paced Rummy spin-off. The game is played in 11 rounds and players meld, using sets and runs. The first player to lay all cards down at once receives no points. The remaining players then lay down their cards, either on the first players' or their own. Each round uses a progressive wild card, from 3s to Kings. The lowest score wins. The most difficult part of the game? Remembering what wild card is in play for a particular round. Everyone is welcome and we'll always have a learner's table, if needed. We play at The Lodge Game Room from 3 to 5 pm on Aug. 6 and 20 (always the first and third Tuesdays of the month).
