FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2019 41 Women's Evening Bible Study In July we finished our series on prayer. We started in February with the Purpose of Prayer and ended with Intercessory Prayer. All women of Four Seasons are invited to fellowship with us on Thursdays, Aug. 1 and 15 at 6:30 in The Lodge Game Room. We have our first anniversary in September. It has been an extraordinary year exploring God's word and making new friendships. On Sept. 26 we will celebrate with a potluck in the RCN Room #3. Bring food to share, a beverage, and everything else will be provided, including dessert. This will be a fun event. If you are new to our community this is a great opportunity to relax and meet other lovely women of faith. "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31 For more information, contact me at baerhuggy@ icloud.com. ~ Mary Baer And the new name is…. The Chavurah Jewish Club has officially changed its name to Jewish Cultural Club. We did it, quite frankly, because the old name was just too darn hard to pronounce. But the new name is so much more than just something easy to pronounce. It represents our mission, which is celebrating our culture and our holidays. There are so many rich and beautiful Jewish holidays that we are looking forward to sharing with our Four Seasons community. And we will be eating! Food is very important in our culture. Every Jewish holiday has a specific kind of food that represents the meaning of each holiday. There is serious planning on food preparation for each holiday meal and there is a meal for every holiday, all 64 of them (seriously). Now, we won't be celebrating all of them, just a choice few, because we still have to watch our figures. Those looking for religious services should continue to attend their local synagogue. Our gatherings will be celebrating the cultural and spiritual aspects of each holiday. Eating and schmoozing, that is what we will be doing. And occasionally singing some of the beautiful Jewish songs we are so well known for. Everyone is welcome. Come to any of our gatherings and taste the delicious food of the season. Meet your neighbors and break bread with us in the name of community and brotherhood, all in a lighthearted, fun, and musical atmosphere. Our next order of business is to create our calendar of events. We will be announcing it in the next issue of the Breeze. But there is one event we can announce now, and that is our big Hanukkah bash on Dec. 17. We are still working on the details, but we can tell you it will include a fabulous taste of Hanukkah, featuring a full Hanukkah menu. There will also be a fun (and hopefully funny) Hanukkah show, with songs and a humorous look at the Jewish holidays. More information will follow, but for now, save the date: Dec. 17! Now that you can pronounce our name, we hope to see you at our events. We will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 6 pm with our Fall Potluck. Location to be announced. Regular participants will be contacted regarding food arrangements. We will continue casual get-togethers this month and keep each other in our prayers. Our regular sessions will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 7 pm in the third section of the Ballroom. Doc will continue the series on The Parables of Jesus. Please contact Doc or Letha Sellars with any questions or comments at (951) 797-3302 or docletha72@gmail.com. ~ Doc Sellars We are continuing our study of the 13 Epistles of Paul the Apostle in the New Testament. Most of July we carefully studied the Book of Romans, going verse by verse, discussing, and explaining each one. We will finish Romans on Aug. 16 followed by an ice cream party celebrating several August birthdays, including member Jane Pihl, who will be turning 102 on Aug. 30! If you haven't met her already, come by the Game Room in The Lodge on Aug. 16 and meet her! (Okay, you can join in on the ice cream party too!) After we finish our study of Romans, we will begin studying the Book of Ephesians, to be completed the first week in September. If it looks to you like we are choosing to study Paul's books at random because that's not the order they are in the Bible, just so you know, we are studying them in the order he wrote them. We will be discussing where he was when he wrote them, for whom and why, and how his wisdom and teaching is applicable to our lives today. If you are interested in joining this amazing group of Godly women, please come to the Game Room at The Lodge any Friday from 10:30 to 11:45 am. We will welcome you with open hearts and arms. ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine; egcellent@msn.com "Believe…" Women's Bible Study Intercessory Prayer group Greeting intercessors, friends, and neighbors! Come and join us this month for prayer. Prayer is needed in our communities. I read in Google that Beaumont is ranked as the fourth best city in California for young families. They need our prayers. You are invited to come and join us in continuous pray, for it is needed for our community to run smoothly. Our group is committed to prayer. Come and add your prayers to our prayer for Riverside County. We meet on the first Monday of each month at 9 am in the Game Room. Hope to see you there. Men are also encouraged to attend. ~ Cookie Bonner; eaglewatchwb@aol.com
