Are you ready for the Travel Expo which will be held in the Ballroom from 1:30 to 5:30 pm on Tuesday, Aug. 13? There should be plenty of vendors with exciting trips, cruises, and excursions to explore. You are welcome to stop by at any time during the expo which is open to all residents. We are evolving and have accomplished quite a bit in the short time the Travel Group has been revitalized. Three day-trips down, one opportunity to join the group for a seven-day trip, and well into planning our next trip. We are making a change in policy on how we will book trips in the future. We will no longer be taking interest only sign-ups. It entails a great deal of time and effort to contact residents, first to see if they are still interested, and then again for payment. When a trip is announced, it will now be on a first-come, first-paid basis. So, if you think you may want to go on a trip when it is announced, please have your checkbook in hand. Thanks for understanding. This will streamline the process and make trips easier to handle. Also, because of late-breaking news or changes that occur after the deadline for the Breeze, you can find additional information on our website, fourseasonbeaumont.org under the new Did You Know tab. We will post the most current information there. We will also add new trips to the website under Upcoming Events and in the Daily Report email. To find out what trips were selected at our July meeting please look to these information options. Our next few dates for your calendar are Sept. 28, our regularly- scheduled meeting at 10 am in the RCN Main Room; Nov. 16, our holiday potluck brunch and meeting from 9 am to noon in the Ballroom; and Jan. 18, 2020, our regularly-scheduled meeting at 10 am in the RCN Main Room. Happy and safe travels to you all. Hope to see you at our next meeting. For additional trip information, contact Irene Welker at irenewelker55@gmail.com. It seems easier and easier to be distracted and forget our primary objectives. Things like exercise, proper eating, and living a healthy lifestyle, get put "on the back burner" when other things seem more important. All it takes to distract me is packing for a vacation, a grand child's graduation or birthday, an upcoming holiday shopping trip, celebrating, decorating, an illness, or the illness or death of someone close to us. These things become more important and fast food and other people's food is more accessible and often seems the most efficient way of surviving the moment. This article on TOPS, Take Off Pounds Sensibly, went just that way for me this month. A family trip to a 6,000 foot high campground with all the packing took precedence. So my article is being sent from my mountain-top this time. TOPS, however, goes on, meeting every Tuesday with weigh-ins at 8 am and programs and speakers 8:30 to 9:30 am. Last month our biggest losers were Marjorie Melendez and Cathy Calhoun. We had programs on senior exercising, yoga, joint pain, diet IQ, and others. After vacationing and eating other people's food for a week, my spouse and I will be back on the scales on Tuesday morning, and getting back to our healthy style of living. ~ Andrea Henderson, (918) 497–6491. TOPS Don't miss the Travel Expo! Tuesday, Aug. 13 1:30 to 5:30 pm in The Lodge Ballroom
