58 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | AUGUST 2019 Our Fourth of July tournament this year was a bit different from the past. Since all of the players have honed their skills and are pretty much equal in expertise and talent, we decided not to break into the three groups like we normally did in the past. Instead, we had a challenge in the morning group for first, second, and third places, to play the same categories of winners in the second session. Here's how the morning session ended: • First place: Bob Rector • Second place: Michael Rothberg • Third place: Mike Fisher Then it was the afternoon session's turn. Here is the outcome of that competition: • First place: Richard Carrasco • Second place: Pete Antoine • Third place: Paul Snyder After a best two-out-of-three challenge, the overall winners of the trophies which were handed out at the Amphitheater on July 4, were: • First place: Bob Rector • Second place: Pete Antoine • Third place: Paul Snyder The winners of this event are pictured at right. Congratulations to each of the winners! Both the morning and afternoon players were amazing, the games were laughter-filled, (okay and at times intense). Each of the battles was hard-fought and showed incredible skill. If you are interested in dusting off your pool stick and joining this amazing group of Four Seasons residents, please come by the Billiards Room at The Lodge any Tuesday from 11 am to 1 pm, or 1 to 3 pm for formal play. We also have practice sessions on Saturdays during the same time slots. C'mon. We know you want to… join us, that is! ~ Eileen Gilbert-Antoine, egcellent@msn.com Billiards for Fun Second place: Pete Antoine Third place: Paul Snyder First place: Bob Rector Wild Bunch Billiards The Wild Bunch Billiards Group is geared for those individuals who want to play competitively with those of similar skill level. We started the new year with inviting the "best of the best" from Sun Lakes and Solera to play competition on Fridays, from 12:30 to 3:30 pm in our Billiards Room. It has been a great success with the skill levels ranging from level four to level seven. The Wild Bunch consists of some of the best players in the league: Joe Spinella, Lucas Don, Bob Rector, Mike Corbett, Carlos Rivera, LeRoy Wright, Rocket Spinosa, and Gracy Luna. We will be having our Second Annual Wild Bunch Billiards Tournament on Friday, Aug. 23. We will be competing with Sun Lakes and Solera, playing 8-Ball in the morning and 9-Ball in the afternoon. The billiard tables are done! They have been recovered, new pockets and speed bumpers installed, and leveled correctly. The Wild Bunch Billiards Group was instrumental in getting this done, and everyone is enjoying playing on more competitive tables. If you want to play serious, competitive pool, we invite you to come by the Billiards Room and join in the stimulation of competitive play. We do not play with partners; we play one-on-one with an opponent of your skill level. We are always looking for those who want to play competitively. Who knows? You just may want to change up your game and play on the team. And, most importantly, we have a good time! ~ Gracy Luna, gracyluna@aol.com
