As we enter the month of August we face our weather changing to ever higher degrees. August is always a challenge for seniors as we visit the market, seek the cool of the pool, disembark vehicles at various venues or allow a fellow passenger to remain in a vehicle while the driver dashes into a business. Our individual levels of protection and awareness must increase just to survive this weather threat. As you leave your homes consider wearing clothing that will cover as much of your body as possible, caps/hats, long sleeve shirts and such, help to keep your skin cool; and don't forget the sunscreen lotion. To "protect and serve" and "Community Patrol" are two different kinds of operations for two distinct types of service. Normally private security personnel come with different skill sets as compared to police officers. Police Department personnel are trained for an extended period, whereas private security personnel receive only a portion of that training. We sometimes attempt to compare police officers to community patrol officers and find no similarities. The lack of extensive training does not excuse our contracted security officers from providing us with the highest level of services possible. We expect the company to provide Four Seasons with officers that are motivated, trained, polite, clean, healthy, and verbally articulate. With the foregoing information as a backdrop, allow me to say the Access Control Committee, the Board of Directors, and Management are constantly monitoring our security officers, both at the gate and on patrol. The additional link in our monitoring would be the residents. Feedback from residents is an important link because you are traveling on the streets of Four Seasons at all times of day and night; and may spot some irregularity or malpractice. If you do, you should report it to management. For your education, all guards are guided by a document called "Post Orders." The information contained therein are the operating orders for the guards to adhere to. The guards are quizzed periodically about these orders and any amendments therein. The mere presence of the patrol officers on the streets has an impact on most drivers. Their presence at a stop sign or being seen on the streets can alter the behavior of a driver. Security will not chase a motorist, nor will they address someone who runs a stop sign, but their presence has an effect on many would-be violators. Furthermore, my colleagues on the Board admonished me about the word "security". Security implies that we live in a very secure environment and that is not, and will not ever be, the case unless we contract for a higher level of service. So if you witness speeders or people running stop signs, get a license number and car description, then report it to management. In these cases, "management" is First Service staff at the front desk of the Lodge. On behalf of the Board of Directors, please enjoy a healthy and happy August. Protect yourself and your loved ones. See you at the next Board meeting. Message from the Board of Directors 2 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | AUGUST 2019 | Sincerely, and on behalf of your Board of Directors, Jim Crase, Tony Criscenti, Gene Hikel, Ken Pounders, Cliff Post and Greg Rockvam Jim Hatcher President
