22 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | AUGUST 2019 | "With each sunrise we are given a chance for a new beginning!" Kindness Recognition – In A World Where You Can Be Anything – Be Kind! Please be reminded of "Kindness" recognition. Kindness is one of the most important gestures we can extend to one another. We are hoping that we will all take time to think before we act. You can pick up a "Kindness" card at the front desk. If you observe someone who has put forth a special effort to be kind, helping, or caring, simply obtain a card from the front desk. Please include the person's name and a comment why you are recommending this individual for kindness recognition. If you have questions regarding kindness recognition, please contact Sharon Uhlken (951) 391-3309. Celebrations of Life/Memorials: We are saddened to learn of the passing of Jim Silverwood. Our condolences go out to Bonnie and the Silverwood family. We often say that there are no perfect words to express our sympathy to these families. This is so true. We struggle hoping to convey what a privilege it is for Team Sunshine to be part of their celebration. We meet the most amazing, wonderful, strong and caring individuals as we "walk a little bit into their life" -- particularly at a time when their hearts have been broken. May we just say, "thank you for allowing us to share this time with you." We are here to help. Some residents choose to hold private family remembrances and want only a photo and bio to inform the community of their loss. We are privileged to help here as well. Programs: Jane Farmer, Community Relations Director at Desert Hills Memory Care, took us through a tour of the brain and dementia. There were about 85 residents who received some interesting statistics regarding the onset of dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Ms. Farmer did not have business cards handy so we share her information here: Desert Hills Memory Care, 25818 Columbia St., Phone: (951) 652-1837. Thank you for supporting Team Sunshine programs. Team Sunshine Information: Recently we received a note from a dear neighbor who was surprised to learn that we perform certain services here in the community. We are a service provider and are all volunteers. Every month we encourage our residents to become better informed about our services. If you are one of those who really doesn't know much about Team Sunshine, our meetings are open to all. We meet every first Monday of the month at 10 am in the Multipurpose Room. Please join us if you wish to know more about us. By the way, we encourage you to ask for a Team Sunshine Caring Connection Card at The Lodge front desk as a reminder of the services we offer to the Four Seasons community. Please fill out a *NEEDS* Form at The Lodge Front Desk if you know of someone who has recently lost a loved one. This form can also be used for various kinds of needs assistance. In case you prefer not to call but would like us to know of a need, this form will record your concern and will be passed on to the appropriate Team Sunshiner. Medical Equipment: We do have donated/used medical equipment that we deliver and pick up from residents. Residents who request medical equipment are required to sign a waiver form. Return of medical equipment is requested by contacting Jeanne Lincoln (765-7112). We have enlarged the medical equipment team to include: Rose Harvey, Donna Morrell and Patty Jones. In Team Sunshine, no one "gets the job done alone." Our Prayer Warriors: Marietta Ruppaner conducts a prayer circle once a month to pray for our residents in need. All are welcome to attend the prayer circle. Just give Marietta a call and she'll give you the date, time and place. Also, if you have a prayer request, get in touch with Marietta or place your prayer request in the Prayer Box in the MPR. We are thankful for the service they give to our community. Closing Thoughts: "Someday everything will make perfect sense. So for now, laugh at the confusion, smile through the tears and keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason." ~ Unknown Team Sunshine
