Charity Week antics: The RV Club didn't do any official activities during Charity Week, but it's amazing how being a member and going to outings adds to your friends and acquaintances here at Sun Lakes. The hubby and I wound up sitting with RV Club members and, dare I say, some potential RV Club members at a few of the events. The crowning moment for me? Club secretary Sandy Alexanian and I did the blindfolded golf cart race and lost spectacularly! NOW THE BACKWARD PART I usually report the fun club members have had at recent events. That's all fine and dandy, but a little frustrating to those of you who still haven't joined. This month, I'm telling you about the upcoming trip to Zion, so you can get in on the fun. We've reserved three cabins at the Zion River Resort in Utah event in September. All you have to do is join the club ($20) and claim one. If you're too late to do that or if you have an allergy to cabins, or if you're like several of our members who don't have an RV, there's a hotel next door! A three-minute walk! Five minutes if you lollygag at the river that runs next to the resort and hotel. This will be a trip that you won't want to miss. Sun, fun, a shuttle to Zion National Park or to Springdale to shop in the dozens of cute shops or eat at one of the great restaurants, cookouts, games, camaraderie, social hours, golf (if you're so inclined), swimming in the pool, lounging in the hot tub, chilling on the patio behind the social hall, shared meals (many included in the price of the trip), and the taco truck and margaritas (leaded and unleaded) on the last night. The resort is only a one-day drive from Sun Lakes, unless you stop along the way to visit Hoover Dam or in Vegas to donate money to the casinos. We normally meet on the first Monday and the third Wednesday each month from 3 to 5 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Except (mark your calendar) the next meeting is Aug. 5, the first Monday. In September the meeting will be Sept. 18 — a Wednesday, then back to the normal schedule. Confused?
