30 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2019 | I just want to remind you we are now a Caregiver Support Group for all caregivers. You do not have to be caring for someone with memory loss. We are here for everyone. Every few months we have a guest speaker sharing their knowledge on topics that will be of interest to you. Our next meeting and support group will be on Thurs., Aug. 15 at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Beginning this month we will no longer offer a support group meeting on Mondays. We will continue to offer patient care at all the Thursday meetings. There is no guest speaker this month. This will give you more time for the support group. We have a wonderful program for the patients in the Arts & Crafts Room. Ed Avina will once again be entertaining this group. We have fun! We sing, dance and just enjoy listening to songs from the past years. So drop your loved one off at the Arts & Crafts Room on your way to the meeting. We are a group of loving caregivers. We enjoy caring for your loved one so you can go to the meeting and not worry about them. If you have any questions, would like to learn more about memory Loss, or would like reading material that we can loan you, call Diane, (951) 769-0130, Doug, (360) 840-5559 or Anne, (951) 845-8700. Remember we are here to help. Caregiver Support Group In June we were honored to have Tin Man's Heart perform for us. Mike and Lee Stone had sung for us last year as their alter ego characters Spud and Dud. These comedic characters had been created for That's Entertainment and were a huge hit. They were also a huge hit at our club. Now they sang as themselves and we got to see their real talent. Mike and Lee as Tin Man's Heart put on a wonderful show including work Mike had written himself. What talent they have. Some of their songs included: In Other Words I Love You, If I had a Hammer, The Boy from New York City. They ended with a beautiful rendition of Somewhere over the Rainbow. Mike's song that he wrote was a very touching Small Town that almost anyone could relate to and drew great applause. Thank you Mike and Lee! Our August entertainment will be the Pink Ukeladies and Gents. We had been their first ever performance at the beginning of last year and I look forward to seeing their evolution. I know they've become bigger and better. Come join us or visit to see if you'd like to join us. You can attend one month without being a member to give us a try. We think it'll be worth your while and you'll have a good time. Just be sure and let us know by the fifth of the month for a reservation for our head count for the caterer. Our gathering is at 3 pm in the South Clubhouse (unless otherwise noted) on the third Saturday of each month. Reservations are requested by the fifth of the month to Donna Harrington at (909) 561-5066, at 5393 Riviera for the necessary head count. Our dinners are almost always $11. We also receive an occasional meal free to the members. Spouses and caregivers are welcome to attend as well. Many members bring along their visiting children or other out of town visiting guests. We make everybody feel welcome and our goal is a good time for everyone. For information, call Barb at (951) 845- 7904. 80s Plus Club
