58 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2019 | Friends we will miss Robert (bob) Bennett passed away suddenly the morning after Easter Sunday (April 22, 2019), at the age of 85. Bob was born Dec. 15, 1933, in Honesdale, PA. to Clarence and Emily Bennett. Bob is survived by his sister, Brenda Bass, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, primarily of the Pennsylvania and New York areas, and by his many close friends in the Sun Lakes Country Club area. Bob was a graduate of Honesdale High School, class of 1952, where he "lettered" in both basketball and baseball. After high school, Bob served four years in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of E-6 by the time of his Honorable Discharge. After having served his country for those four years, Bob relocated to Southern California, and almost immediately obtained employment in the burgeoning aerospace industry. Bob soon met and married the one true love of his life, Billie Pannell, and they continued living in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas until their retirement. Bob and Billie then found and fell in love with the Sun Lakes Country Club area, and proceeded to purchase their idyllic residence in 1999. They lived a quite happy and peaceful life in Sun Lakes until Billie's untimely passing in 2007. Bob's life was consumed by his love for Billie. Bob's friends and acquaintances were often amazed by his devotion to small animals, but dogs, of all sizes and breeds, easily topped Bob's list. Bob maintained his lifelong passion for the game of baseball, which he excelled at as a youth, by continuously rooting for his beloved St. Louis Cardinals. Bob was a devotee of "the ponies" and the art of picking the right horse at the right time. Bob, as the athlete he always was, learned to both love, and hate, the game of golf. Bob was a patriot! He was a conservative who served his country in every way he could. And Bob is now resting comfortably with his Creator, who surely said to Bob, "Well done, my good and faithful servant." Bob's remains will be interred at a site in the Honesdale, PA area, near those of his mother, father, and other family members. We will all surely miss that huge, wonderful smile that never seemed to leave Bob's face. Pamela jean swart of Sun Lakes passed away on Fri., June 7 at the age of 85. She was born in India on June 26, 1933 and moved to England in 1948. That is where she met and married her beloved husband Robert Lee Swart of almost 60 years. He passed away on June 28, 2014. In their union they had three daughters. Her favorite, Sharon Lee Swart-Reiter (Don), her other favorite, Carol May Pettey (David), and her other favorite, Shirley Ann Burroughs (Steve). They were blessed with seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. The legacy of our beloved mother and father will continue to live in all of us, and we know that they are looking down from above, guiding our way.
