| OHCC LIVING | AUGUST 2019 | 15 Art Room News By the time you read this, the beautiful art of the Watercolorists will be replaced by the clever handwork of the Papercrafting Group led by Rhonda Anchales. It's amazing what talent can be displayed in such intricate and delicate card- sized art. Artists featured in this exhibit are Rhonda Anchales, Mary Ann Barbee, Karin Barnes, Shellie Bean, Kathy Kelsay, Kathy Moskovitz, Barbara Roe, and others. We wish our install helper, Frank Boynton, speedy recovery and look forward to his healthy return soon. Be sure to read a little about each artist in the info pocket on the slat board. If you'd like to show your artistry in a future exhibit, please contact Judy Harris or Lainy Vinikow. Enjoy! Stained Glass The two-month beginner's class is coming along nicely. Everyone is learning a lot and having fun. Our March beginner's class was fully booked. Another beginner's class started in July. Art Lovers On Tues., Aug. 20, the Art Lovers Club will travel by car to the Oceanside Museum of Art, a gem in our community. We will enjoy a docent–led tour of three major exhibits: Brian Kesinger: Dream It Yourself Brian Kesinger, an artist, author, and filmmaker whose journey of self-discovery led him from working with some of the world's most famous movie, television, and theme park personas (at Walt Disney Animation Studios, Marvel, and Lucas film) to creating popular characters all his own (including Otto and Victoria, Penned Dragons and Jasper J. Pumpkin head). Dress Rehearsal showcases numerous and unexpected ways a dress can be depicted and interpreted. Using out-of-the-ordinary mediums expressed through sculpture, installation, painting, photography, and collage, this exhibition celebrates both the imagination of the artists and the theatrical nature for which the show is named. Roland Reiss: Unrepentant & Unapologetic Flowers Working beyond the superficial meanings usually associated with flowers, Reiss contrasts to explore expressive possibilities in a luminous world of color, believing they take us to a deeper level of consciousness. Viewed from far away, the flowers become human scale with personalities of their own. At a closer range, viewers find manmade surprises. We will meet at the Overflow Lot at 10:50 am and carpool to OMA at 11 am. Admission to the museum is $5 for seniors. Our docent tour begins at 11:30 am until 12:30 pm. We are planning a luncheon at the Urge Restaurant in Oceanside, 2002 Coast Highway, from 1:15 to 2:45 pm. Those interested in going on the tour and luncheon please call Paula Doss at (760) 414-3437.
