Actors' Workshop is "dark" for July and August, and will be back in September. We have space for new participants! Contact Sally Benton at Moki2@cox.net for details. Readers' Theatre meets monthly on the first Wednesday in the Mens' Club Room at 1 pm. Sally Benton and Anita Simons advise that the readings include a variety of genres — and NO MEMORIZATION! We look forward to their October performance. Stay tuned to hear about Senior Moments Improv Troupe's next show - it'll be a doozy! Please consider signing up for Audio Video Training Sessions, (monthly on the third Wednesday at 4 pm in Abravanel Hall. The next session is Aug. 14. The A/V committee has contributed so much to the success of our programs. Let's make a concerted effort to at least have a working knowledge of what A/V does. Our Fall show (Oct. 25 and 26) is Tiger's Tales, a night of original one act plays by Janet S. Tiger, a local playwright, who "… has written over 50 plays, screenplays, monologues and now books… which have been produced internationally… and are in popular anthologies in the United States and Canada." The production will be directed by Patricia (Trish) Moran Collins, a "professional director with a demonstrated history of working at all levels of theatre…" Although we are "dark" for the August general meeting, the entire community is invited for free to our Sept. 2 meeting, when Richard Lederer will entertain us. An author, speaker, and teacher, he is best known for his books on such topics such as puns, oxymoron's, and anagrams. Lederer refers to himself as "the Wizard of Idiom," "Attila the Pun," and "Conan the Grammarian." His weekly column, "Looking at Language," is syndicated in newspapers and magazines throughout the United States. You should not miss this show! Cathy King, nominating committee chair, asks anyone interested in being on the Board to contact her email GertandCathy@hotmail. com, home phone (760) 941-1421 or cellphone (760) 936-7095. Jack Landau will provide live piano music before our monthly meetings, at 7 pm on the first Monday in Abravanel Hall to find out what everyone else is talking about and see how much bang you get for your $10 annual dues. You can join Theatre Arts and participate in all of our entertainment and activities. You can always leave your check in our envelope at the front desk. Please follow our activities online at ohccdg.wixsite.com/ theatrearts. | OHCC LIVING | AUGUST 2019 | 11 Theatre Arts Richard Lederer entertains us Sept. 2
