In response to our continued effort to find solutions that help to
minimize OHCC's impact on our environment, O'Connell Landscape
Maintenance will be testing a Makita brand 18-inch, battery-
powered, walk-behind lawn mower in Ocean Hills. Watch for it in
the Villages as we look for mowing effectiveness, battery length and
time it takes to recharge.
Jon Cancel with O'Connell Landscape Maintenance oversees
the product applications for pest and weed control in Ocean Hills.
He holds a Qualified Applicators License with the Department of
Pesticide Regulation as well as providing training to O'Connell
employees on proper practices. Subtle changes have taken place
over the past few years, with one of them being the reduction of
the amount of chemicals being used on the golf course. The cost
went from a peak in 2013 of $68,901 to $23,330 in 2018, a 66 percent
reduction.
