28 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2019 | Plans for the Zion River RV Resort trip are in full swing. Waiting list names are being taken for RV spots, and by the time you read this the cabins will be taken care of also. A tour package adventure is on the books to explore the scenery in style (in a climate-controlled vehicle). A bus trip to Zion National Park via shuttle is also scheduled. Once there, campers can ride buses to any of the nine stops within the park where they can disembark and shop, explore, eat, or hike. Some members may choose to sightsee, shop, or eat in the quaint, surrounding town of Springdale. On another day, some members will enjoy golfing, while others will enjoy swimming, visiting, games, and individual exploring. Be sure to check back next month to see pictures and hear a full account of the fun. The club has its annual pizza party every October. Mark your calendar and come see what we're all about. You'll find great food and camaraderie at the event as well as hear what exploits are coming up. Call Sandy Alexanian for more information at (951) 381-1292. We'd love to have you! Sun Lakes Follies John Steinbeck was a California writer who unfortunately ended up in New York. He wrote something about mice that went over pretty well. They made a black and white movie of it in 1939 with Lon Chaney, Jr. People loved it so they made it again in 1968 with George Segal and again in 1981 with Robert Blake. Great film so they tried again in 1992 with John Malkovich. Not one to miss out on a good thing, in 2014 James Franco gave it a try. See what can happen when you take the words from your head and put them on paper? That is what we do in the Writers Group. Our next meeting is Wed., Sept. 18 in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room from 3 to 5 pm. Normal meetings are first Monday and third Wednesday. Info., call Roger Smith, (951) 769-2808.
