| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2019 | 19 Bingo Advisory Due to the Main Clubhouse remodel bingo will be dark for the month of September. Bingo will resume on Oct. 8. This is the second Tuesday in October. Have questions? Call Anne at (951) 845-8700. September is an exciting month as summer winds down, we're home from trips, school is starting and the grape harvest (amongst others) is on! It is hot and sunny at the Main Clubhouse pool, the tables, chairs and umbrellas make a comfortable spot, so you have no excuse not to get in that last summer read. Your Library Committee wants to provide all Sun Lakers with the best possible service. I am always not only excited but proud when I get to describe to a new resident about the four libraries at Sun Lakes. The committee and library volunteers have been culling the shelves of older and run-down books to make the shelves easier to peruse. We also have placed many new books – 2017, 2018, and 2019 - as we know that residents like to stay up on newer stories by their favorite authors. We have received requests over the years to expand the large print book section (paperback library of Main Clubhouse, toward the back) for our friends who love to read but who can no longer make out the small print in so many books these days. The committee was fortunate to receive a large donation of relatively recent large print books of many genres so those shelves are expanded now to fit all we can of this donation. Thank you! Paperback library also has the genres Mystery, Romance, General fiction, as well as audio books. The Hardback library (across from coffee bar) has Mystery, Romance, and General Fiction. North Clubhouse has the same genres in paperback but also a separate section for sports books, and a large nonfiction section which includes biographies (shelved by subject, not author), war stories, and general. There is also a large shelved area of jigsaw puzzles of various difficulties. South Clubhouse has a library area in the main hallway; east side is Mystery and Reader's Digest condensed, west side is Romance and Health & Wellness. Our libraries are honor system so you may take out what you like. The audio book shelf is also open all days of the week. As much as you can, it helps the committee if you return books to the library from which the books were borrowed. Each library has a wood "return bin." You will also notice that Main Clubhouse, North Clubhouse, and South Clubhouse each have a place for magazines so we welcome your donations of current periodicals as well but no catalogs please. Of course all of these functions require time to sort and reshelve. If you are interested in becoming a library volunteer call our coordinator Joy Bailey at (951) 845-5540. Library Advisory First, thank you to everyone who participated last month in the attempt to break the world record for Most People With The Hiccups In A Parking Lot At Night Under a Full Moon. We had 465 hiccuppers and have submitted our petition to the Guinness World Record headquarters and expect to hear back before the end of the year. The September World Record attempt here in Sun lakes will be the Largest Human Pyramid. The last record was 351 people. We feel this is going to be an easy one to break. Please call Ima at (909) 797- 3647 for more details. We cannot publish the exact time and place because we know that Four Seasons will try to sabotage our efforts once again. They're very competitive. But so are we! ~ Ima Gunnafal World Record Committee
